Hi folks. I am leaving Austin, Texas to travel to Bonaire, via Dallas and San Juan stopovers. I have my daughters passport, certified birth certificate and papers that somewhat vaguely states that I have temporary custody of her. Anything else that we will have to have upon entry? There is the possibility of getting a notarized letter from her estranged father giving permission for me to take her out of the country on this trip but we're not counting on it arriving in time :-(
Hopefully, a letter from the lawyer and a copy that he sent to him to sign will be proof enough that we attempted to get his signature!
Just curious if anyone else has found themselves in this predicament at the 9th hour? We started the letter approval process over 3 weeks ago but now we still don't have it and it's coming down to the wire. We leave Saturday morning (19th June).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have to make this a less painful trip... regards and hope to be there soon!

Hello,

I know if Mexico it is very important to have some document. I have a different surname than my child and have never had ANYONE ask me anything in any country. And, I never carry a custody paper. So long as you have proper entry docs I do not see a need for anything else? We have come into this country over 15 times for reference.

Just my experience...

As far as I know, Mexico is the only Caribbean/Central American designation that requires the permission letter from the other parent. I have taken my daughters to the Bahamas with no problem. My ex did have to present the letter that I gave her when she took one of the girls to Mexico.

With the documents that you have now, you should not have any problem with Bonaire.
