We haven't been to Bonaire since '02 and are worried that American may be enforcing the rules for international flights that call for ludicrously tiny (i.e., toy) carry-ons. Has anybody run into a problem with AA taking on a standard-sized carry-on (e.g., ours are 24 X 15 X 8)? I'd call the airline, but my experience is that the people who answer the phones often don't know @#$% from shinola about such things. Thanks in advance. Can't wait to get back into the water.

We just returned from 9 days on Bonaire late last night. We took AA from Dallas via Miami to Curacao then connected with DCA. I use the large Pelican case for my Nikonos V and strobe which is 19" x 16" x 9". We also carry on another bag with a regulator bag inside as well as film and land cameras. That bag is 24" x 14" x 12" and is not a problem. I will tell you to get to the airport early enough that you can be on of the first group on the plane, therefore guaranteeing you of overhead bin space.

In Feb our carry-ons on AA consisted of a standard size small rolling bag with our regs and 2 backpacks. Had no trouble taking all on the first flight ("the big plane") and knew that we would have to curb check the small roller in San Juan. Am wondering about your method Randy as the first group to board now is the back of the plane and while that does in fact guarantee overhead space we have not had trouble finding space when seated further forward.
