We will be traveling from Chicago O'Hare to Bonaire with Air Jamaica. We have not flown them before and I have a question regarding their carryon restrictions.

Do they allow a carryon piece plus a personal item (purse, briefcase, etc.)? I usually travel with a backpack (under seat size) with camera equipment, and a small tote (briefcase size) with meds and essentials. Will I bet both these pieces on?

My husband usually travels with the backpack and a small roll on bag. Will he get both of these on?

Thanks in advance.

No problem -- we flew AJ in September, with a large backpack each and a smaller camera/personal bag each.

It depends on the size of the bags. If both are the same size and medium or large, you won't make it. We travel with one large carry on and a smaller brief case size one each and are fine.

We have never had any problems carrying such items with AJ. I have my backpack filled with camera equipment plus my huge "purse" with me and Joe has the carry-on luggage and usually one more bag with something in it...sometimes "our" stuff or sometimes stuff for our friends on Bonaire. If it is not "huge" there should not be a problem. Sometimes they make me place my "purse" in the overhead compartment for takeoffs and landings, but that's about it for restrictions. Have a great time! Carole

My husband always has a normal carryon size suitcase on wheels and a medium sized camera bag with all the camera/video equipment in it. I usually carry the regulators in a bag, my purse, and sometimes another small carryon. We have NEVER had a problem with it as carryon in the 5 trips to Bonaire from BWI via Air Jamaica.

One thing to add, just be careful of the weight of the bags.

I have flown oh let's see...4 times?? I usually take 4 checked bags (Maggie and I) and a back pack and lap top with me..last time I checked 6 bags. The extra bag fee is either 25.00 (low season) or 55.00 (high season) but they never charged my card. I gave it to them..hmm..I think they are fairly lenient. Oh and two of our bags got a green tag that had an elephant saying "heavy" and we were NOT charged more. Go figure..in Nov. I have HEAPS of things to bring..good gracious.....
