We are leaving from Philadelphia on Saturday. We are flying to Miami on American Airlines. Then we are swithing to ALM from Miami to Bonaire. My question is will we have to reclaim our baggage in Miami and go through checkin in again or will they check our luggage through? Thanks for your help.

You can check your bags all the way through. You do need to check in at the ALM counter in Miami.

On the way back, you clear customs and immigration in Miami. You pick up your bags for that but can immediately check them back after you are through. Your bags should have tags to your final destination and you just hand them off to the right airline baggage people - no standing in line and checking the tickets again.

Don't forget to reconfirm your ALM reservations at least 3 or 4 days before you fly. You don't need any surprises when you get to Miami. And the same in Bonaire-- go to the airport and reconfirm your ALM flights home.

Actually, you can reconfirm your reservations downtown. The personnel there are much more helpful than the lady we dealt with at the airport. The ALM office is about a block east of the Cafe DeTuin/movie theatre/supermarket area.
