I bought 4 tickets on AA.com two weeks ago and paid $937.90 each for travel from Albuquerque to Bonaire in March. Today the fare was $737.90 each. I called AA and they offered to reissue the e-tickets but with a $100 per person fee. I felt my blood pressure rising, but contained myself while the agent put me on hold. Finally she said that I would get 4 travel vouchers in the amount of $200 each which must be used within 1 year. Silver lining in this cloud is we get to travel on AA again within a year!

Is there any other business in this world that can take your money upfront for something to be delivered in 6 months, then reduce the price on the product without telling you, then charge you $100 per item exchange fee to sell you the exact same product, then relent and let you have the item for the lower price but not give you your money back, only a credit for more items that must be bought from only their company within one year? What happened to the Customer?

I hope this is helpful to any other Bonaire-bound readers!

I recently read that AA was going to stop charging the $100.00 fee as they are apparently the only ones who do it and customers were expressing their outrage at this practice. Don't remember seeing an effective date though.

Nadine,

Thanks for the heads up!! I had been checking air fares from Springfield, MO to Bonaire and they had been 803.40 for months. After I read your message I checked and booked our flights for $651.40 each!! This is for flights during the busy season in February. Now if only we could fly direct instead of direct to Dallas/Fort Worth then direct to San Juan then direct to Bonaire :-)

Only 136 more days to go!!!!!

Belinda
