Basically, you need to have a skill that a local resident cannot provide, and you need to have your potential employer request the permit for you. While it's being requested, you must be off island (can be two to six months or never). Depending upon our own unemployment rate, you may or may not be granted a permit-locals always have first rights for jobs.
