Hi everyone!
5 days left to go! A huge thank you to all the wonderful Bonairetalk people, no travel agent could possibly provide so much info!
we had initally planned to be on Bonaire in May for a windsurfing holiday but due to 'Husband on bicycle having an unfortunate encounter with large SUV' (luckily just a broken collarbone) we are now looking forward to 12 days of snorkelling, a little diving and just maybe a little windsurfing, not to mention a whole lot of chillin'.
We will be staying at Coco Palm from June 20-July 2 and hope to run into some Bonairetalkers during our stay - be sure to watch out for our trip report (payback time)
Mary
(in a not very summery boston)

Hi again,
I know that this is not a trip report but please bear with me! I have been looking at weather forecasts for Bonaire on Weather.com and also on Wunderground.com , all have been reporting daily thunderstorms for the past 2 wks and into next wk- does this mean a florida type quick storm in the afternoon or generally crappy weather ( after our spring in Boston I am really hoping for the former!)
Thank you!

Mary,

I moved your messages over here.

As far as predicting weather conditions on Bonaire, good luck. I've yet to see a professional weather forecast which was accurate (at least when predicting thunderstorms - of which we may have one or two per year here). I did see lightning storms south of Bonaire last night (most likely over the Venezuelan coast), but none here - just a few minutes of occasional rain...

Jake

Hey Mary--five more days for us, too! We can't wait! This is our first trip to Bonaire and our first "good" dive trip in a couple of years. (We went to the Florida Keys last summer, but I was just 7 weeks past surgery for a torn rotator cuff and a detached bicep, so we only did a few very easy dives--since I couldn't even raise my right arm past my shoulder!) I hope your husband will be feeling okay for this trip. We are staying at Belmar and will be going to the BT get together at Gibi's on the 24th.

What's happening on the fourth. I am tuned into the 8th of July, but did I miss something on the Fourth?

Well sure, that's Linda and my anniversary (14th this year if I'm counting correctly). Kind of you to remember! No need to bring presents though ;-)

Jake

PS Cynde's babysitting for us that night, so anything she's involved in (like picking up Kelly at the airport) will necessarily involve their company :-)

James, Rog and Karen live out here on the left coast about 3 hours north of me. I organized a dive for the Bonaire Left Coast Talkers locally a couple of years ago and so we met for the first time! We haven't managed to get together locally since then, so we are having to go halfway across the world to hook up again! We are just going to do a fun dive in the afternoon on the 4th if all goes as planned:-)

Jake, you crack me up...picking up Kelly is the only excitement planned off "campus" with the kids:-) However, I imagine our screams when we finally meet face to face will surley break all the windows in the Flamingo Airport! LOL! I am hoping I can bribe Bas and Yana into showing me their favorite disney dvd's (and getting to watch all the ones I have missed since my kids have "outgrown" disney :-)

Jake, may I be the first to wish you a happy anniversary. Secondly, I would like to order you a bottle of champagne that night, so if you let me know where you're going, it will be on the table. Jim

Jim,

Thanks!

That's a very nice offer, but you really don't need to do that! On the other hand, I'm also not going to work too hard to talk you out of it if it's something you're committed to :-)

Linda tells me we're going to Capriccio's that night :-)

Jake

I shall make a point to go there in the afternoon for lunch that day. I LOVE those Capriccio afternoons after a double in the morning.

Wow, did I totally get that all wrong. I thought you were married to a guy named Kelly, and you were housesitting for Jake.LOL The big white space above is where Jake was writing all his favorite champagnes. He then decided to delete it, as he thought that would be too snobby. Anyway Jake, I'll still get you a good one, even though I know you only drink Dom Perignon. LOL

james...my husband couldn't make the trip and as i was not about to miss the opportunity to help jake and linda out and house sit (and get to do a lot of diving and have a nice little vacation to boot) i recruited kelly as my new dive buddy...however, i think that both the boys will be bumming just a little bit:-(

Jim,

Just tell Lola (the owner of Capriccio's) to pick something Jake & Linda will like, and she'll take care of it (that's how I order my wine at Capriccio's - I delegate the decision to someone who knows wines a lot better than I will ever hope to :-) )

Jake
