Any truth to the rumors about turning the Waterfront Produce/Vegetable Market (the Venezuelan market) into a bar??? I understand there was something in the Bonaire paper, "Extra" referring to converting the Venezuelan produce stand into a bar.

If this actually IS a proposal of the government, I think it is a bad one. I do not have all of the "facts" but if what I have heard (even part of it) is factual, there must be something we can all do about it.

I received a note from a very active member of BT (I will not name names in case they do not wish to be identified as yet) alerting some of us to this proposal and I have sent a response via email to some of the parties I feel would be involved or have some influence on this decision making process. I am grateful for receiving this note, too.

Has anyone on Bonaire heard of this proposal? If so, any local input? Any suggestions?? Can we help?? If so, how? Does anyone have exact email contact addresses we can access? (the government website has no English and I cannot determine which choice to select to send an email.)

Thanks for listening. I will await the responses. Carole

Well, as you probably know it's election time here, and seeing that here on Bonaire most politician have a lot of time on their hands they'll come up with just about anything to try to get voters to vote for their respective parties. The day after the news was published the leader of the other party went on the radio and said that this is completely untrue. Well maybe extra won't print that article. (political preference)

Thank you for some insight, Francis. Ah yes, elections....happens everywhere in the world, I guess. I just hope it is political folley and ploy and will not come to fruition. Keep us posted, OK? (if you can or want to). Thanks again. Carole
