Hi, everybody! I am in the process of joining BonAirExel (DEA) and migrating to Bonaire. Any advice and tips about moving to Bonaire will be appreciated!

Hi Theo,

Welcome to BT - I moved your topic here since it relates to Bonaire.

I don't know of anyone from South Africa that has moved here. What is your nationality? If it's Dutch, you'll have a pretty easy time of it. If it's anything else, it will require a bit more work in terms of the permitting process.

Have you been to Bonaire before?

Jake

Jake,

Can you refer Theo to the link(s) you listed on BT earlier that talk to the steps in the process?

Thanks for the replies. My nationality is South African. My home language is Afrikaans, very simular to Dutch. Luckely KLM Express will handle the permitting express.

Jake, I have never been to Bonaire before, but from all the pictures on all the web-sites, it looks awesome!! My wife and myself is looking very forward to this opportunity.

Hope you have an excellent weekend!!

Kind regards,
Theo

Hello, Theo
I was in South Africa in 1996 (in Pretoria, because I landed in Johannesburg)and I liked the people. I was travelling around at my on in a rented car. I met many friendly people and stayed at in several own prived houses, it was really nice. One was visiting me in Holland and one is still living and working in Holland. Yes, your speaking sounds as Dutch, but when you write something down, people will think you're a child, maybe it is better to do it in English. Dutch written will be really hard to learn. Good luck both of you.
Everywhere in Bonaire you can speak Dutch or English.
