At risk of tooting my own horn, Dara and I have art available at Michael's Chat N'Browse. He also has some of Janice's work and a number of others including some photography, fish prints, and mulas.

We are planning an exhibit next month at Casablanca restaurant and were just working on the details today.

Everything Artistic has some of Jake's work and I believe one other Bonaire artist. They have a lot of tropical art from around the world.

If you are on island when a cruise ship is in, you can find artist tables at Wilhemina Plaza.

Nochi Coffee is also having an exhibit next month - not sure where.

Henk Roozendaal has an exhibit currently at the airport.

Kontiki Beachclub also has local art for sale and sometimes has exhibits there as well.

Linda,

We happened to be on island during the Dia di Arte last July, and enjoyed it very much. Will there be another this year?

Yes, Dia di Arte is an annual event usually on the 1st Saturday of July. So I have it down for July 6th, 2003.

I won't be back to Bonaire till Thanksgivings (End of November). I would love to see some of your work.

That Link that Kelly sent is incredible. I hope to be able to see some of that when I get to Bonaire.

Just got word that we will not be doing the exhibit at Casablanca next month, and are now looking for another well traveled venue to open at and leave art up for a month or so...

We recently bought several pieces of art at Chat and Browse --- great selection as Linda said. Also, check out the Bonaire salt crystals. Beautiful package for a nice gift and a wonderful skin treat at home.

Also, anybody visiting Bonaire without taking the opportunity to meet Michael Gaynor is missing a treat.

Linda just finished a new painting which I think rivals her flamingos. Here's the world premiere shot of that painting:

She also recently finished another fish painting:

PS Linda also finished her first pass at a Web site last night - http://www.LindaRichter.com

Linda, your paintings are stunning! Can't wait for your website to be complete to see "virtually" all of your work.

Jake, thanks for tooting her horn for her!

While in Bonaire, we took a day to see the sites and in Rincon, behind the Catholic Church, we found a school, it looked kind of like a mini mall at first, with a gate across the entry and a sign that said Souvenirs and Candles. We went inside and found that it was a school for mentally and physically handicapped people. I bought some candles and took some pictures of the school. I didn't save the receipt from our purchases and I can't remember the name of the school. There is a sticker on one of the candles that says A.T.V. Stanislaus. Is anyone familiar with this school? I'm wondering if A.T.V. was the name of it, or is that the name of whomever made the candle? I would like to send them copies of the pictures and some art supplies, too.

Karen,

That's the Pasa Dia project in Rincon. I don't know anyone in charge there, but the Bonaire Rotary Club helped build a greenhouse there a few years ago, and still remains in contact, so perhaps if you contacted Jules van Dongen, the current Rotary president at maxus@bonairenet.com you might be able to get the information you are looking for.

Jake: Thank you for the info. I've sent an email to Jules. There was a man sitting at the gate - ageless, I think, with no front teeth and a battered old baseball hat in his hand. He didn't speak at all, but he kept looking at my camera, smiling. So I bent down to take his picture and he smiled this enormous toothless grin - the picture is priceless! I'm entering it in a photo contest of "People Around the World". I think he would like to see himself in print!

I'm so glad Linda finally created her web site. She mentioned almost a year ago that she was working in it, and I've been waiting! I'm looking forward to Dara's too! Every now and then I pop into the Bonaire Arts web site, and hope to see a link to her's..... now, there 'tis. And Jake's too. Anxiously awaiting more photo's on all.......

Linda, your work is soooo intense! Absolutely beautifully done. It looks so real...as if it were not a painting, but, rather a photograph or the "real thing". Just breathtaking work. I can't wait to see more of your work first hand when we return in May. Just beautiful! Carole
