chris and claire, try looking through the snorkeling and accomodation threads. You will find lots of information about experience from folks. I assume that your "hols" means hotels? watering holes? if it is hotels, look through the accomodation threads, if it is places to go at night to eat, drink and be merry, go to the "dining" threads. there are a lot of options, if you give us an idea of what you are looking for (pricing, night life, etc) it will be easier. also, there isn't a lot of "beach" on bonaire, the plaza has the biggest one. if you are going "natural" i'm not sure what places that is accepted. have fun!

I just moved this thread over here from Trip Reports for Chris (following my own suggestion from the WebCams thread).

We have one resort which is naturist - Sorobon Beach Resort. It is located at Sorobon at Lac Bay. It is located right next to the windsurfing area. The resort is naturist but the beach is nude. There is a fee for beach use if you are not staying at their resort.

Generally speaking the rest of the island requires coverage but many of the European visitors go topless at the resort beaches.

The Woodwind, which is a trimaran, does a clothes optional sail and snorkel on Tuesday afternoons. It sails out of the Divi.

linda, you said "the resort is a naturist but the beach is nude" what is the difference between "naturist" and "nude?" (i know, i am a little sheltered, ventured one time out to the only nude beach in southern california when i was in high school...with clothes on...to see what it was all about...had nothing but old men with cameras!)

The owners of Sorobon explained it to me. Naturist is clothing optional around the resort, at the bar, restaurant, etc. The beach is nude as in no clothes allowed. It is also quite private so no old men with cameras.

Thanks Linda for the explanation (and education, glad there won't be any old man with cameras:-)) I figured I never wanted to go to a nude beach again after that!

Unless the old men are nude too, I assume... ;-)

"There was this old guy on the beach taking pictures."
"Really? How old?"
"He was like really old, like maybe 25!"

I remember a LONG TIME AGO saying to one of my teenage buddies "when someone turns 30 they should be put in a nursing home". Now after all those years that statement has come back to haunt me!! Thanks everyone. :>(

You may wish to review our trip report : http://caribbean.wheretostay.com/property/053-reviews.html about the Sorobon Beach Resort. We loved it! Further questions, please email.

Kent & Myrna,

I think we've got the message now, after about a half dozen identical posts about your Sorobon trip report (which you should have actually post on BT in the first place since this is where people go to read about Bonaire, not WhereToStay.com) :-)

BTW, you may want to tell the folks at WhereToStay that their phone numbers for Bonaire, as well as other things, are a wee bit out of date. We've been using 7-digit local numbers here for several years now.

Jake
