Okay, so instead of working on real work today, I spent the morning taking photos at Sorobon (at the King of the Caribbean competition), and the rest of the day creating a new Web site, which incorporates the previous 360 images I made of Bonaire, with new ones from Sorobon (both panoramas and stills).

Please take a look at http://www.VirtualBonaire.com

(Anyone interested in seeing particular shots added around Bonaire is encouraged to visit the Usage page at VirtualBonaire and look at the Sponsorship topic :-) )

Jake, I know how you hate "double" posts, but this topic deserves it...I am pasting my post from the Windsurfing compentition topic into this one, too. Bless you! You have a lot of work ahead of you....lots more places to cover! Thanks again, Jake. Carole
................................................
Wow, Jake! I love you! Thank you soooo much for putting the little "tip" at the top of the pano flicks...to wait for it to load....Niki, you were right, too....I wasn't waiting long enuff for the QuickTime to load up fully. There is no "bar" at the bottom of my monitor on the Quick side so I just stared at the fuzzy pic and waited and waited and waited and then BAM!! There they were...crystal clear pano shots all over the island and Sorobon. I think I even saw Annie in the one shot, right?? Great, great stuff, Jake...we are sooo spoiled now. I know you are having a ball with the new "toy"/equipment....we are having fun right along with you. Great stuff. Patience is a virtue...even virtually! Carole

Jake, great site! I've added it to my Favorites. It doesn't cure the PBD, though :)

And uhm, mind you, we all at BT consider the creation of this website as real work :-P

Jake,
like Carole, I cannot resist responding again. Great site... looks nice and is easy 2 operate. Great work! I hope u'll find some sponsors: I still think it can be a great marketing-tool!

And of course it is work Jake... I even try 2 convince my boss that reading up on BT is part of my work..... :)

Jake,

You are having way too much fun with this thing!

If I had known you were going to blow off real work and play all day with this lens, I would not have party to getting to you....

Only one comment: You gotta get at least one picture of the Rose Inn on this site :-)

Now, get back to work!

-dave.

Real work pays the rent, and buys me nice dinners at Capriccio's (but only if I did a lot of real work :-) )

Dave - I got the manual from Ronald, BTW.

Jake, again, just makes me more PBD'd...sigh...but you are doing a great job. Is this your way of "learning new things daily?" If it is, you are having way too much fun! Just kidding, it really is great. Boy, wait till Annie from Cape Cod sees the Wind surfing stuff...she gonna go CRAZY!!!

OH, I have emailed the Virutal Bonaire site to many friends so that they can be depressed with me:)

Nice pictures Jake. They sure makes me want to get back soon. Some shots down by the salt pier and salt piles would be interesting.

Jake, is there a possibility that some of the resorts will pay you to have virtual tour of their facilities? that would be fantastic, folks that are trying to make a decision about where to stay could see it virtually! although it would probably make the decision even harder, as all of the places are great!

michael and i went for a walk last night to clear our heads and look at the christmas lights, and i was telling him about the "golden handcuffs." when i told him that i had actually thought about moving to bonaire, he said he had thought the same thing...then we realized that it really wouldn't be too hard, except for finding a job...i know that we would have to get in a long line head up by martin and igor!

Cynde, what are Michael's (and your) capabilities and experience?

I suspect Michael might be able to consult from a remote location... There are a number of folks who reside on Bonaire who actually work/consult in Holland or the U.S.

Jake

PS I'm working on processing some more pictures for the Virtual Bonaire site. Hopefully will have them posted soon...

Feel free to nudge any businesses you frequent on Bonaire and encourage them to sponsor Pano shoots :-)

I finally managed to add pictures from my trip to Klein Bonaire yesterday to http://www.VirtualBonaire.com - during the visit there with the local turtle researcher we helped rescue four hawksbill turtle hatchlings - photos at the site above!

Great shots Jake!
And of course great work of Robert van Dam. These turtles look really vulnerable. Let's hope they survive.

ps A remark on the stills: the comment under some pictures has been cut of.

Those pictures of the turtles-kiddies were really great, I loved to see them, I wished I could have been there with you and Robert, it must be so great to see these youngsters, and to help them to reach the water, during one of the most dangerous parts of their lives!

I should have known...here I have been asking anyone if they had any shots of the QEII to post for us....Where was my brain...I should have remembered Jake and the panos! Great shots, Jake. Thanks ever so much for sharing this great stuff with us. I remember snorkeling right at the butt of the ship last May...the stern? the the helm?? She is definitely an impressive sight to behold. Thanks again. Carole

I think you're thinking the stern, Carole -- though the concept of the ship's butt is rather amusing... :)

lol, carole:) i actually think i shall start calling our boats stern, her "butt!"

i thought that spending the morning at the ocean institute with the marine critters would give me a good fix, and it did until i HAD to look at these new panos, and then of course i had to go back and look at the rest....argh!!! so jake...i have to agree with martin, this did not help me at ALL with my PBD!!!!!WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...i checked on air fares again yesterday, and they are looking more reasonable! now if michael can find work within the next couple of months, we are set to be there for the big day:)

Jake what a wonderful set of pictures. I keep showing it to people here at work and show them where you and I parked on the Customs Pier to fish in May. It sure makes the perspective that much more impressive, although I could not imagine what that would look like were I still parked on the pier.

Carole, you are responsible for a full snort of coffee out my nose. Nautical jargon will never be the same.
