While I personally can't understand the addiction to TV sports, I know many people who conversely can't understand my lack of understanding of their obsessions :-)

That said, Marcel Nahr, proprietor of the Rendez-Vous Restaurant downtown (Kralendijk) just dropped me a note that courtesy of his big satellite dish, he offers NFL Sunday Games & Monday Night Football in his bar. Marcel's also a big Formula 1 racing fan, so he shows those races there too.

I consider myself a sports fan, at least football (NFL) and & Americas Cup Sailing. I would have an awfully hard time choosing TV sports over a Bonaire snorkel, or even a Bonaire drive. No, it’s no choice at all, the reef wins every time unless there’s lightning and still I would be back in the water as soon as it passed.

Darryl I can’t believe you’re Canadian if you like football more than the NHL. (hey you typed it!) Just joking with your typo.

Oh geez,
I sure wish I could edit the posts :)

For the record, I am a much bigger hockey fan than football fan. But hockey playoffs are a long way off, and the grey cup is this Sun.

Great news... the Formula 1, that is :). Now, if only somebody can tap into Canal+ so we can have live Dutch and Champions League football, heaven is complete (except for that ski slope with real snow, of course).

The Americas cup challenge race in Auckland New Zealand. Big sail boats, lots of fun. The winner of the Louis Vuitton races New Zealand for the Americas cup.

I'm a big time hockey freak! I played ice hockey for 8 yrs (didn't start until I was 35 yrs old and a Mom too!) when my son played. I miss it so much, stopped playing just a few years ago...can't afford the bruises now!

It's the only sport I watch or follow. Go LA Kings!

Hand in hand, voor Feyenoord 1! :)

Jake, this brings me to a question regarding satellite... You said somewhere in another thread that's illegal to get internet access via satellite, because of the Telbo monopoly? From your post regarding sports, I take it that's different TV signals? What kind of other stations would you be able to pick up with a dish?

You can receive existing signals all you want. It's the generation of signals, such as on the uplink portion of a Satellite connection (which 2-way Internet connections do, but Sat TV does not) which is illegal without a license here.

In terms of what you can pick up with a dish - depends on where you have it pointed, how big it is, and how much money you're willing to pay for subscriptions :-)

Figures :)
I think I'll be spending quite some evenings at Rendez-Vous then... IF it all works out :)
