I thought last year was it..for my lifetime..now they are back. It was stellar last year.

Now they say 11:30 PM the 18th and 5:00 AM the 19th..here in New England..will Bonaire see them or is daybreak too close?

Annie

Annie...last year was a great one for viewing the meteor shower on Bonaire....Jerry the naturalist from Sandollar said it was tremendous...we missed it by a day...It has been cloudy here in New Joisy so we havn't noticed anything as of yet...would love to see some fireworks!

Due to the full moon it will not be as spectacular. But still should be worth the effort to get up at 5:30 am and check it out. Last passing for years. I believe they said 30 years??? Don't quote me on that.. anyone out there?

Just read about the Leonids. They will not produce a dramatic shower again until at least 2033. The next time the annual event will perform as well as this year is likely to be 2098 or later, astronomers believe.

I saw NADA from 11-12..slept fitfully til 4 AM and watched outside from 4:30-5:45. It was nothing compared to the show of last year but despite the clouds and the breaking dawn, it was pretty cool..one per minute. The air was not so cold as last year..so, is that it for me and my lifetime??

Ann, I was out from around 5:20 EST to about 5:45 when the sky was getting too light, saw many many shooting stars, also Jupiter was WAY bright at that time. You are correct though, I did not see as many as last year. In fairness last year we went to the field down below the house which is darker. Not this year, it was 23 degrees and with Bonaire only 33 1/2 hours away I did not want to stress my system with rapid temperature changes, lol.

Be there soon!
