There is a geocache hidden in Bonaire. Has anyone on BT looked for or found it? For those of you that don't know, geocaching is looking for hidden 'caches' using a GPS device. These caches are hidden thoughout the world. I have been doing it for about six months now and it's a fun way to get to know new and interesting locations. When I am in Bonaire latter this month I plan on finding the one hidden in Bonaire and leaving a 'travel bug' that I picked up from a local cache. A travel bug is an item that is trying to get from one place to another and is logged on the geocache website at each location it stops at. For more info check out www.geocaching.com.

Interesting Dennis. Reminds me of when I was an archaeologist and had to find datum points and coordinate our finds with a Brunton compass....GPS devices would have made that a lot easier!

Interesting and informative web site, thanks for the info. I love learning something new!

The geocache appears to be at N 12° 06.490 W 068° 15.580. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=12654

Our house is at N 12° 10.759 W 068° 17.556, so it would appear to be just a little bit west of us, and quit a bit south of us (1 degree latitude is about 60 miles I believe). That would probably put it down by Tera Cora.

Nifty -- sort of like letterboxing or orienteering, it appears...

Faith,

Letterboxing is the first thing that came to mind when I read the first post about geocaching. My daughter and her boyfriend are into letterboxing and love it.

I do love this board! Once again I learned something new - no 2 new somethings. I've never heard of either the geocache thing or letterboxing; checked out both on the web. They both sound like fun activities - thanks for increasing my knowledge of people & the world we live in.
