I am gathering names for who would like to get together for a BT dinner on Sunday, Dec 8 at Hullandes Grill. I will post this on a few different threads and again closer to the date....

Mercy,

This topic belongs here in Everything Else Bonaire, not in Trip Reports or Dining (although a post-dinner review could go in the latter :-) ).

I suspect all four of the Richters will be game for dinner on December 8th... The kids liked the TV at Hulandes :-)

Jake

Mercy, You should have someone call Linda, the lovely hostess and reserve the night. She has lots of room for about 30 ...but Ubie needs to have enough food...Yes, they have a TV for the kids right in the garden for Bas and Yanna ..LOL..

Make sure Ubie has the stuff to make Sangria..hmmmmmmm..their goat is to die for..

:)

No prob Jake, I just wasn't sure where to post this but now I know!

Is it possible for you to call Hullandes like Annie suggests for us when I know how many might attend?? Although it looks like Annie is suggesting we at least reserve the night maybe now.

I know you and Joann are ready to go Darlene! That's 9 already!

Geoffrey and I will be there too - I just booked us in to Captain Don's for the 7-14th.

We decided to book in December since Geoffrey will be having hip replacement next year, and that will keep us suffering PBD for at least a year during his recuperation (he's getting both done). Wahhh!

So, where is Hullandes?

Susan, good news on the visit..and I am sure his replacement will go well.

Hullandes is in Tera Cora..enter Tera Cora any way you are accustomed to and ask directions. To me, this village is a puzzle and all roads lead out somewhere..LOL..

Can you come by town some night for the parties for KOTC? Jack has Sugaro set to play a BIG bash I think Dec. 7 at Habitat..NOT TO MISS I hear..

Ann,

I'm not sure about us doing much partying - any standing around for any length is pretty hard on Geoffrey right now. Still, if the party's at the Habitat, we'll hardly be able to avoid it, will we? :)

Ok Susan and Geoffrey, I look forward to meeting you both. Hey, tell Geoffrey I just had surgery on both my feet a few weeks ago and am learning to walk all over again! Tell him I'll be sittin' with him!

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Susan Feldman on Monday, October 7, 2002 - 9:42 am:     Edit PostPrint Post

I will, Mercy - all though he's been so grumpy about his hips you may not want to sit there too long :):):)

Both feet?!!? Do you have bunions? I ask because I've got them, and have pondered getting them operated on but can't stand the idea of not riding for the recuperation time. I'm also having hip problems but unlike Geoffrey's, mine aren't congenital issues but a result of landing on my butt too many times falling off of crazed horses in my wild youth. A few months ago, we thought *I'd* be the one going for a hip replacement. It shows how life can throw you curve balls...:)

Sugaro is a pretty good band. I've heard them here on Bonaire a couple of times and have been diving with Gary who was the lead male vocalist for the band (I believe).

No Susan, not bunions, much more serious. Had arthritis so bad in both big toes, bones were disintegrated and had to have titanium implants in both! I couldn't drive or go anywhere for two weeks. My doc told me though that bunion surgery is more painful to recover from!

I miss my horse, had a Morgan right here in my back yard in Los Angeles! That was about 9 yrs ago. Ride on girl!

Yow!

Yikes that souns horrible!

My mother's knee also disintegrated from arthritis, she had her kneecap replaced with a titanium implant, too. She had loved it - except in the winter. :)

My old guy is getting on in years, and I'll probably give up riding, or cut back a lot, when it's time for him to go. He's not in my backyard, but he is a pet nevertheless - he's a big hit with all the young girls at the barn. He kisses for carrots, and gives hugs, and always has his nose down for a pet.

Well, I guess I don't have to worry too much about my implant in the winter...living in Los Angeles, we don't exactly get a winter!

My horse was 27 yrs old when I gave her away, I always wondered how long she lived, she was still full of piss and vinegar at that age! The ex made me give her away, I never would have. Wish I still had the horse and glad I don't have the ex!

mercy, i have a friend who had a horse that was nearly 38 before she lost her this last winter. last year at one of our trail rides, the mare was 37. a young girl of about 10 was riding her and had to hold the horse back because she loved to get out and go! amazing.

glad you got rid of the ex too. i worked for me also, they sure can hold you down.

I've heard Morgans can live a lot time too.

Hey, are there any riding stables on Bon, does anyone know?

Ok James and Margarite, you have been added to the list. I look forward to meeting you!

Michael Gaynor has also been added. Has anyone heard from Bas lately? I haven't seen him anywhere on the board and he hasn't responded to his email either. I know I'll talk to him when I get to the island, but just wondering what's going on with him.

Don't know about Bas and his e-mail, but he is alive, well, and happy. Spoke to him this evening as I walked by his house. It's possible he's just not going on-line very much now that he's a working stiff :-)

Yeah, I had heard he was working a lot and figured that. If you could mention the Dec 8 dinner to him that would be great Jake. Although he probably gets invited to so many of these! Tell him I said hello and will be calling him when I get to Bon...thanks Jake.

Jake, I was planning on asking you to let us follow you since we're on the way, staying at Captain Don's and all. There'd only be one stop along the way - to pick up Darlene.

Would that be alright?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Jake Richter - NetTech on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 - 10:34 pm:     Edit PostPrint Post

That would be fine if I knew how to get there myself (I've only been there once, with Annie giving directions, and we got lost along the way)...

Dirtections...from the north...it is the first left after you pass the turn off to Plaza resort if you are the straight road from the Statium. If you are at divi or plaza..just head toward the airpot and take the left to tera cora. Take your right at the stop sign and follow the winding road to the firstt paved road (Kaya Paraguay..huge sign Hullandes Grill. Then it is your first left. I made a tentative res for 20 people Need to know how many non meat eaters...is iguan meat?
From the south, it is the first rignt after the airport. sign says tera cora then follow the rest of the above. He may be able to arrange some Mariachi (sp?) or other entertainment.

Please ask Ubie to have plenty of Sangria and goat...the music sounds good..no windsurf videos..LOL..I will need a break ..HAA..He makes iguana? Sure, it's a meat.

Also, having been there as a group it might be good to have two checks vs one for 20 people. Just my 2 cents having done a large group there once. You can ask Golda or Linda if you like.

Annie

Right now I have a list with 14 people on it for this dinner. I have not been able to get in touch with Bas to invite him. I don't see him on the board anymore and didn't even get a response from his personal email. I know he'll come most likely...maybe you can call him Michael? I'll invite Delno also. Anyone else you can think of locally Michael would be great. The more the merrier!

This list includes...

Michael
Annie & Maggie
Me
Darlene & Joann
All 4 Richters
Susan & Geoffrey Feldman
James & Margarite Hix

If anyone knows anyone else that will be there from the board please invite them and let me know here.

If anyone can drag Jack Chalk away from his Habitat duties, and Walt away from his Rec-Tek stuff, they'd be fun to have along, too!
