Hey everyone! We are starting the planning stages of what to bring, sites to see, places to eat, dive spots not to miss, how bad are the mosquitos on May, etc. and was hoping to get some suggestions from the experienced people that have been before. We are staying at a private villa and have a kitchen but do plan on eating out occasionally.

Very much looking forward to diving!

Suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!!

Welcome to BT, Ryan. Read each of the threads on Diving, Getting Around, etc and you will find a wealth of information. Everyone has their own favorite restaurants, but make sure to hit Bobbejans (open only on weekends) if you like ribs and Mona Lisa if you want a really nice dinner (not cheap).

Everyone has their own favorite dive sites, too. Bonaire has such a diversity of diving opportunities, it's well worth it to hook up with Bas Noij or Bas Tol at VIP Diving. They will ensure an exceptional experience for you.

Have a great trip !!

Ryan, welcome to Bt.

Besides the obvious, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.

Carry on packing list include bug repellent towelettes/wipes for arrival at the Flamingo Airport.
Checked luggage...small surge protector, all your charging cables for your electronics, corkscrew, nylon puff for showers (many places don't provide face cloths), and if you get sunburned, these dont hurt your skin. Aloe, Benadryl(antihistamine for bites etc.), nail clippers.
Small bills for initial tips.

A "sunny attitude" for the travel portion, your all set......have oodlels 'o fun

Ryan
Welcome to B T
I would make sure everyone has long pants for dinner. The favorite eating place for the mosquitoes is under the dining table.
Have fun take lots of pics and let us know how it went.

We are also planning our visit for the first two weeks in May. We always take along some mosquito repellant for the evenings at the dining table or lounging on the patio at sunset. Bonaire does not have a bad mosquito problem as some of the other caribbean islands that are much wetter.

Ryan, like other people have mentioned before in previous threads, pack half of what you think you will need. Have a great trip and enjoy.
