Well,
My life of bachelourhood is drawing to an end - I get married on Saturday - wish me luck :). So far the weather forecast looks good, and we have everything pretty much arranged, so things are looking good. Its going to be a really good time. And then on the Friday after that, we head to Bonaire for our honeymoon for 15 nights. Hopefully all the flights will work out. Coming from Edmonton Canada is quite the hasstle. We leave early Friday and head to Toronto, and then to Miami. We're staying the night there, and then taking off Saturday afternoon on AA for Bonaire. I really really hope all our dive gear gets there - I can live with just a pair of swimtrunks :)

Good Luck!!

I have been in that state for 15 years and counting.

On a side note, we went to the Canadian parks of Jasper (Named a cat after that one), Yoho, Kootney, and Banff. We loved them all, especially Jasper. WE are now thinking about going to the Territories. We thought about flying into Edmonton, renting a camper, motorhome, trailer, whatever, and driving to Yellowknife and other remote locations. Any suggestions. Any knowledge of rental availability of campers, etc.

Good luck and thanks for any info.

Dave

Hi,
Dave - I can look into campers for you - thats easy to do. One thing to keep in mind is that the roads as you get North can really be affected by winter, expecially as you get into the territories. Make sure you're well prepared. Personally I wouldn't do it without a 4wd drive truck in winter. I'm certainly not an expect though, as I've never driven up there, but its something you should research well before hand.

Parrots are absolutely amazing. I know our 2 cockatoos have about the mentality of a 2 year old. They'll throw temper tantrums sometimes when they don't get what they want. If they think we're not watching, they'll try and steal things off of the coffee table and run with them. I recently babysat my parents cocka-poo. One of the cockatoos didn't like him, so snuck up behind him, and bit him on the tail, and then flew off to laugh at it.

Darryl, I strongly suggest you take along your essential gear-swimsuit, mask, and regs/gauges-in your carry on. Everything else you can rent with ease.

Seb,
I definately am planning to do just that. We're taking our computers, masks, regs and underwater housing and camera. And a pair of swim trunks. What else could you need in Bonaire :)

Well,
The deed is done. My bachelour days are over and I am now a married man. Seems very odd to type that still. Saturday was absolutely perfect. The ceremony went perfectly, and the reception was one big party. As cliche as it sounds, it really was the best day of my life :)

And now we get to look forward to being in Bonaire in 6 days . . .

Woohoo Darryl!
Was it just me that got the punchline on the anecdote about the cock-a-too chasing the cock-a-poo?

Reminds me of my honeymoon; the first stop for the cruise ship was Bonaire, and my new (and still only) wife and I snorkelled straight from the town pier all the way down to a pristine sandy beach with the beginnings of construction on a new resort hotel in the background about 100 yards away. After a whole day marvelling at the fish in the crystal clear water and making sandcastles on our own private strip of perfection, we snorkelled back - right up to the side of the little cruise ship we came on.

Many years later, on our first full vacation to Bonaire, we retraced our path and discovered that our secluded beach is now 18 Palms beach, and the resort under construction is now called the Plaza.

Hope you make some great memories during your 15 days of honeymoon bliss! Dive safely!!

-LS
