Hello, my husband and I visited Bonaire in late April/early May a few years ago. Had a great trip, weather was dry, which minimized mosquitos; saw more jellyfish than was ideal, but we managed; don't recall any wind problems re snorkeling. We visited again a couple of years ago in March and had another great trip. Were many fewer jellyfish, got to meet lots of Bonaire Talk folks, don't recall any wind issues re snorkeling. Now I'm wondering about going in the third week in June. From weather chart it seems rain is a bit more likely and it's likely to be windier. I notice that most Bonaire Talk folks seem to visit in February and March. Is that because you're escaping cold and snow at home or because of conditions in Bonaire? Can anyone advise as to how they think we'll find Bonaire in June? Are the differences in precipitation and wind then enough to make a significant difference in snorkeling, mosquitos, anything else?

Thanks for your advice.

Jan..You'll love it in June. We visit twice a year in the winter & the summer. Truth be told, I prefer the summer months. Generally speaking, the water is warmer, it's calmer, the viz is a bit better, less crowds and there is an absence of the cruise ships.

Having said that, we leave in just two weeks and I can't wait to escape this horrible winter weather we've been having in the northeast!

Hi Jan-
We generally go in late June. As Vince says the water is slightly warmer and less crowds.

As far as rain goes it's usually a quick down pour so I wouldn't be too concerned. We've taken trips to Bonaire from early May to mid-November see the same kind of wind and rain.

You'll have a great time whenever you go!

So, Vince...will I only need a shorty when I return in early June? :) That would sure beat the 4/3 full suit I need every January!

Liz..And I thought you were a cold water diver!! ;)
I generally wear a 3 mm in Feb & if I get cold will wear a hood.

We were down in July last summer & the water was so warm I just wore a skin. (Nice to dive with only 6 lbs around my waist).
