Hi,

I don't think the conditions on Bonaire support regular board surfing....waters are active and the shoreline (mostly) is rocky. I will defer a more specific response to folks who know the island water conditions on the East Side better than I do, but I would think it too dangerous to surf on the East Coast. I don't recall seeing any real wave action on that side, either...not conditions conducive to surfing, at least. Try the windsurfing at Lac Bay...you'd love it! Carole

I'm not much of a windsurfer unfortunately. The first time I tried it was during some strong winds, and it blew me and my buddy half way around the lake. If I had the time I'd love to get into it though.

The three places the guys surf are Baby Beach, Playa Grande and out at the reef in Sorobon...yes, rocky and reefy..not nice to me but they love it..

Hmmm...I'm an old surfer from way back and I didn't see anywhere to surf on the island when I was there last month. I think I asked someone and they said there is some, but I never saw waves that you could surf there...or I would have!

We saw waves that were at least 5'-6'. Lot's of coral. We did not see anyone surfing.

As Annie said, some of the more risk-seeking folks here do actually wave surf on the East Coast, and have the fire coral (not a real coral) and sea urchin scars to prove it.
