Is it too early to begin talking up a get together for BT'ers the week of Sept 21. I was in Boniare early july and had a blast meeting folks from this group at a barbecue at Jake and Linda's

Gregg, Ed and I will be down Sept 25-Oct 11. If the BBQ is in Bonaire, we would definitely be interested. Also...if you need a place to hold it, our home is open! Liz

Wow Liz, what an offer. There was a terrific barbecue at J&L's house in early July and appreciate the effort they put forth. I can see a lot of work to host a party . I am quite content to meet at a public spot if anybody is interested. We will be a group of 4 regular BT'rs staying at my timeshares at Divi...depending on the number of folks interested, maybe meet around the pool.... lets see home much interest there will be... I've heard people refer to Gibi's.... don't know where it is (even though I've been to Bonaire many many times)

No problem...we love to entertain...as long as it is not over 20 people or so. We have a nice back yard and a large living/dining area and kitchen. If it is small, that's ok too...we have the grill and everything! Liz

Michelle and John.. would love to have you over for a drink. My husband is what you would call an "ole timer" He has been visiting Bonaire since 1976 and me since 1992...Greg...if we are talking dates, the best time would be around the 27 or 28th...how does that sound? Liz

Hey Liz! We would love to meet you guys! Anytime is fine with us - as - we have nothing to do but explore - first time out in Bonaire means an adventure everyday. So whatever the consensus is for a time and place to get together - lets do it! Jeez - I'm so excited about coming to Bonaire - it's a dream come true.
Michelle
PS
...notice - I'm the internet research person - John's always hearing me say "Hey come and read this post - doesn't this sound cool?" Tonight, he said "Wow, this sounds like a really great time - let's do it!" ....
Michelle (& John) of course....

When's a full moon around those days??
Just an idea... how about a beach party or something similar out in the open. BBQ.. bonfire. Bring a chair and your food 'n drink and your set :-)
Places that pop up are Donkey beach in front of airport, Sorobon beach, pink beach or elsewhere south, Andrea1, Ol Blue (cool night dives too) or if you all are a bit adventurous... Spelonk Cave!!? Place a bunch of candles around in the cave, bon fire well in front of it of course ;-)Truly awesome setting but it is a bit of a long drive.
I can come up with a big grill and some pallet tables (and mark the road with small signs to follow in case it's really off the beaten track)

Just a suggestion.

That is the week of the coral spawning the full moon is on the 21st September. So later that week things should start to happen. We found (last year) that 22:00 was the best time to get wet and watch the show and I think the best nights were 6 and 7 nights after the full moon, so 27th and 28th should be great. We arrive on the 22nd Sept hope to see some BT'ers in the water.

Brian & Sue

Gee Guys...sounds like people are interested...Bas, hope you bring Cuda like at J&L's party...it was great. The only problem of food at the beach is that you get sand in your food as well as other places :-) Since my group leaves the 28th, I hope we can set something up earlier in the week Mon-Thurs... I can check with Divi to see if we can pick a nite to have a pool party at the casino/timeshare (if anybody is interested)

Liz,

I forgot to ask...what part of town do you live?

Ok, let's see where to start...Gregg, we have a place at Lighthouse Beach...you can see it at www.scubabonaire.homestead.com/townhouse.html
Second, I am SOOOO excited about the coral spawning...I wasn't aware. I've only taken 1 night dive, had a great time, but got VERY disoriented at end of dive, been afraid, but will DEFINITELY try again. Bas, could you use a New Jersey Plate? We could bring one down!!
We plan on being down Sept 25th-Oct 11th. How about a "house warming party"! We will pick up libations in Jamaica! You all tell me the most convenient date I'm looking around Sat or Sun 28- 29. This way we can welcome all into our home! Email me at eginocchio@comcast.net if you are interested. Michelle...email me so that we can get together, not only for a drink, but a dive or two, also!!!! Thanks all!

Something else to consider as a get together, in addition to a BBQ (which we are in favor of too :-) ) - Saturday, Sept. 21st is International Coastal Clean-up day, and I was thinking this might be a nice time to clean up fishing line at one or more dive sites - Barcadera comes to mind as one which has a lot of fishing line.

Liz, I have a bunch of jersey plates already.. black on yellow passenger, vanity and municipal, a white on light blue passenger and a 1940 comm. NJ plate. If you can find a diffeent one, would love to trade you for it.

Gee Gregg, how old are you?? ;-)

Jake, I hope they don't 'clean up' (some) the east coast dive markers again this year!

Well it looks like the 27th is a good possibility. All are invited to our house..Bas, Linda, Jake, Mike and all other BT Bonaireans...just email me and let me know. Probably around 6-7...children are also welcome. Our home and are hearts are always open... We both come from larger families (him Italian, me French) So our general motto is "The more the merrier!" Email me at our new email address (just got cable modem...its SOOOOOOOO much better than dial up) eginocchio@comcast.net

FYI Jake...we love the monthly "clean ups" we have participated in quite a few...they are usually at the beginning of the month, right? Maybe we can hit the one at the beginning of October as we are there until the 11th.

Weekdays are a little harder for us than weekends (we are still working folk), but if the BBQs not at our place, so much the simpler - count us in (2 adults, 2 kids) on any of the aforementioned dates.

As far as the monthly UW clean-ups go, I had started that effort with Eric from Green Submarine almost four years ago, but we had a pretty serious disagreement about how to continue to run them about a year and half ago and Linda & I haven't participated since. I'm not sure if he's still running them considering he's trying to sell the shop and all. You'd have to check when you get to Bonaire.

In any event, for all BTers on island on Sept. 21st, I will be organizing a fishing line clean-up at Barcadera that date, and perhaps we can follow-up with a lunch at Rose Inn or something. More details later.

Jake

We, of course, are very flexible and Thursday the 26th is just fine. As first time Bonaire visitors - what should we bring to this shindig?
Michelle ( & John) ;-)

Ed and I discussed it and this is how we think it should be...Jake, Linda...you are familiar with these BT get togethers...Ed and I will provide mixers for drinks, sodas, plates, plastic forks etc. and hamburgers... everyone else can bring something of their choice. FYI, Ed has asked me to make my non mayo potato salad (funny I make a german style version of the warm, on a dutch island, my husband is italian and I am french!!!) Let's try and shoot for somewhere between 6 and 7 either on the 26th...Ed and I arrive on the 25th so all we have to do is some grocery shopping the morning of the 26th...We will be stopping in Jamaica to pick up some libations...can we get anything for anyone? Michael and Bas, can we count on you all to be there? Thanks! Liz
