Hello again BT! A question about packing; I've been using this site quite a bit to prepare for my first trip to Bonaire. The packing archives are quite helpful. My question is, many who post here suggest bringing things such as ziplocs, ear drops, zip ties, clothes line, Deet (especially the Deet), etc. Are these items not available on the island?

Hello Brian,

all these items are available on the island, however, probably much pricier and some stores run out of stock or you have to make an issue to get one item here and the other there, wasting time looking for it. Most of the items you mention are to get at the Cultimara supermarket, however, it's a choice you make.
Enjoy your time on Bonaire! Happy first trip to you!

if you are going to use a clothesline i'd recommend bringing some 1" spring clamps (available at home depot or lowes) instead of clothespins. they are stronger and will keep your stuff from blowing off the line. i learned that trick from some sailboat people.

about the deet, you may want to put the deet wipes(like wet 1's) in your carry on (avoiding the liquid carrying hassle) in case the airport is buggy (by times, waiting for luggage can lead to a vampire taste testing!).

Every year I bring less and less from home. I do always bring ziplock bags, trail mix and deet wipes. I have been able to find about everything I want on the island.
