I don't think so, I could be wrong but I believe he is talking US dollars.

$4.27 a gallon here and I hate to admit it but I drive a gas guzzler and am having $80.00 fill ups. I am not happy about this! :-(

We've been paying that for over a year in Canada. Its currently sitting at $1.33 per litre. Approx 5.00 U.S. gallon. Its not that bad . There's talk of 1.99 per litre by years end . Get use to it .

Although the gas prices are hitting everyone hard (especially here in the US where everything so spread out) I think it ultimately is a good thing for this planet for us to go through this pain. It can only lead to more efficient vehicles and less carbon emissions as the demand slows down due to the high prices and people start to realize that an H2 in the garage maybe isn't the best choice for taking Jr to school.

As for myself I ride a bike that gets 40 mpg and really hate taking the truck out of the garage, 20 mpg on that one.

For all those that have trouble with “Fuzzy” math i.e. metric conversions & currency conversions.

Gas price Naf 2.75 per liter divided by 1.77 (Bank rate to convert $ to Naf) = $ 1.5367 price per liter

3.785412 = liters per gallon

3.785412 x $ 1.5367 = $ 5.89 per gallon

I heard it was going up Naf 0.73 per liter

If that is true then the following is the price per gallon

Gas price Naf 2.78 per liter divided by 1.77 (Bank rate to convert $ to Naf) = $ 1.570621 price per liter

3.785412 = liters per gallon

3.785412 x $ 1.570621 = $ 5.95 per gallon

The other rumor I heard yesterday was that we could expect it to go to around Naf 3.75 per liter / $ 8.00 per gallon by the end of the year as the prices have been held low by Central Gov. in Curacao, but now they are over 40 million+ in debt to Curoil and have no way to pay it back. So Curoil will be raising the price to reflect their market costs. This assumes oil does not rise any more in price.

Remember that petroleum products here are subsidized and also that the refinery in Curacao belongs the Sr. Chavez.

If prices keep rising, it may be prudent to try to guard against fuel theft.

With such a high percentage of under 25s unemployed and pretty low salaries for those who do work, it is likely that theft of fuel from cars may occur.

Hire vehicles are always favourite. Mitsubishi pick-ups have a drain plug on the tank but on others, they just cut the fill pipe.

Most of the guys who do steal only want a few litres for their scooters but will let a whole tank of fuel empty on the road to get it.

I advise that maybe you should keep the tank below half if possible.

We in North America have been spoiled for decades. Higher gas prices might finally make people think twice about buying an 8 cylinder gas guzzler or a car with a ridiculous amount of horsepower.

Actually, I saw a comparison the other day that indicated Americans have not been getting a break. They compared US gas prices to European prices and they were very similar except the European price included about 60% tax while ours was about 15%. The actual price of the gas was very similar. Point being, we just pay our taxes in a different way than the Europeans and we do not have as many social programs.

Please note, I am relying on facts as reported by others, I have not verified them.
