Can anyone tell us...how much difference is there between this book and the old one by Jessie Armacost (think that was her name)? We have the old one and wonder if it would even be worth our while to purchase the new one?

If it makes any difference, we are snorkelers rather than divers. (Just to curtail lots of encouragement to take up diving, we have tried two resort courses and prefer the "broader" view from the surface rather than the "up close" view from under water.)

Thanks!

Susan Porter did a outstanding job with the new book. New sites, totally updated. Very cool read as well.

F. Keaton, the guide has changed dramatically since Susan took over. She has just came out with another revision edition, and she also rates the sites for snorkeling beginning, intermediate, and advanced. As the topography on Bonaire changes, along with names, it is the most up to date tool you can get.

You can order it directly through her at www.bsdme.info, and most shops on island carry it. It can also be ordered from www.bonairestuff.com.

I put off getting Susan's book for years because I'm c-h-e-a-p! And I thought I knew a lot about Bonaire diving. Well, Susan's guide is wonderful...sent me to sites I never knew about, some of which are my absolute favorites.

And she thinks of everything: every trick for entry and exit, everything trick to optimize the dive . Get it. It's worth twice what she asks for it.

Is it the same price when purchased on-island as when ordered off the internet?

Thanks for all the input.

If you order from the author's website the cost includes shipping and handling (17.95 in the US and 22.95 everywhere else). Shops on the island charge from 15 to 17 dollars.

if i'm not mistaken, jesse's book was published in the late 90's, before the lennie surge. a lot of the shore entries have changed enough since the surge that a new book was necessary. we use both jesse's and susan's books and find them very helpful.

I have two different editions of Susan's book. I do not own Jesse's version. I can say I LOVE Susan's editions. I keep one at base camp and one in the truck. :-)

I emailed Susan that I'd like to buy her book at the Houston airport. She said, I'd have to wait to get it on the island, but she'd never considered the potential of Houston before. Maybe that's a new avenue for her.
