Finally....after 5 months of hard work, here is my travel tv pilot, "Time Of Your Life". I got the idea for it in Hawaii last Sept. and shot it on Bonaire in Dec.

I am proud to say that I created, produced, wrote and hosted it and it was my first time doing all of it! That means I even picked out all the music for it..that was fun!

It is aimed at active baby boomers and involves archaeology, adventure and food. I will now be shopping the DVD to television execs, networks, cable stations, who ever will buy it! If anyone has any connections anywhere please contact me or pass on my info.

Just to give you an idea of how ahead of the curve I am, this quote was taken from an article on worldscreen.com just last Oct...one month after I came up with the idea! I just KNOW it's going to sell!

Judy Barlow, the VP of international sales at APT Worldwide, the distribution arm of American Public Television said, “Most channels are now looking for travel with a twist—things like extreme travel, eco-travel, travel targeted at boomers, travel for people with disabilities, or learning travel—which is travel mixed with nature, science, history, etc.”

Keep in mind that the sound and camerwork was not on a professional level, but thanks to BT'er Jim McPeak for his handling of the camera during the archaeology segment. Thanks Jim! And thanks to all on Bon that made this possible.

I hope I got all my Bonaire facts right, but don't freak if I didn't!

I hope you will take the time to leave me a comment on the link provided and on BT too if you like. Enjoy!

Very nice, we to enjoy Wil's. Too bad you couldn't combine your video with some under water shots. Bonaire is wonderful above and below the sea. And it's people are great too. Hope to see more in the future.

nice video. As I watched, I kept thinking you are now what Rachel Ray will be in 25 years. (this is meant as a compliment - I like Rachel! My teenage daughter, however, thinks she's too perky).

Mercy - I am so happy for you! I cannot watch the clip from home. But I will watch it on campus tomorrow. I cannot wait to see it!

Mercy, what a wonderful result with your Bonaire project! I felt as tho I were back on island with you thru all of your stops in your footage.

Loved the music, the colors, your narration and everything. Your enthusiasm shines thru in the final product, too. Congrats!!

Where are we off to next??!! Ayo. Carole

I'm having troubles getting my post on You Tube to show up on the page. With my luck it will end up there six times over! LOL. I'm trying, Mercy! Carole

Ya Carole, it's weird. I got notices of at least 6 comments being left on You Tube, but only one of them showed up. And it's REALLY important that they be on there. If they're not on there by tomorrow, can you all please try again? People are getting discovered on YT, and it is such hot media tool now, I need it!

Thanks for all the wonderful and encouraging comments on here! If you don't want to post on here, but still want to tell me something, my email is on my profile on here.

Hey Ric, there were some underwater shots....of divers but it was stock footage. This was a no budget project, so could not afford to hire an underwater videographer. But thanks to Roger Burnham of Blenny Lips for the diving footage!

Sue...one of my friends said I sounded just like Rachel Ray when I was tasting Will's food! I was hoping I didn't sound THAT perky! She can be a bit annoying, but I'll admit to having watched her show quite a bit...research, ya know? And no, I wasn't offended at all by your comment. Hey this show is ALL about being older and enjoying life!

Great video, Mercy! Love it. I felt like I was already there. Just 39 more days and I will be experiencing it for the first time in person.

saw it on YT - I'm still wondering how the GMC Bulldozer R4 is the top related video??

Also, if you type "Bonaire" on YT, it is not a match. Don't know if you can generate a hit that way.

Bonaire is my 3rd tag word...but there are at least 1600 vids that come up if you only put Bonaire in the search box. Then I put Bonaire travel log and it came up on the first page. I have lots of key words in there, but ya gotta narrow it down a bit.

Oh ya, I forgot to tell y'all that if you can PLEASE pass the link onto family and friends you think might be interested, it would help me out, thanks!

Have a wonderful first visit April! We all know you're gonna love it.

Sue...there is some weirdness going on with You Tube. The supposedly related videos column next to my vid...some I have watched before, but one of them....a good friend of mine has watched but I haven't! So what is up with that?? Why would any one of those I have watched before be in that column at all?? Mysterious for sure!

Hey Carole...your comment DID show up 3 times, but I deleted a couple of them so you could save face in the long run! More comments showing up now.

Thanks, Mercy! LOL. I had a feeling it might show up later on after posting as it kept telling me how many characters I had left to use and then it told me I was over the limit. LOL. It would not acknowledge the posting when it was initially done, however.

Just LOVE the video, Mercy!

One thing, tho...the clip of the diver touching the fish...that's a "no, no"....stressing out the little critters is not good for them. Ayo. cb

New subscriber - first post. I don't see any posts or subject lines referring to birdwatching in Bonaire. Interestingly, Bonaire was the very first birding trip I organized for my local Audubon chapter back in 1982. I returned in 1985 for another tour. During our birding tour, we had the pleasure of Frater Candidas as our local guide. I understand he's passed away. I was cleaning out my library and listing several older, out of date bird guides on Ebay and see that my copy of "Birds of the Netherlands Antilles" by Prof. Dr. K. H. Voous, was signed by Frater Candidas on January 4, 1985. I decided not to put the book on Ebay, but wondered if there's any place in Bonaire where the book should reside? It's in excellent condition. Also, if there are any birdwatchers out there, I'd be interested in any information about some of the less common birds on the island. Thank you. Carol

Carol: go to section on Bonaire Nature... There is a bird watching discussion. My wife went with Jerry in February for most of the day for $50 and had a great time finding most of the special birds of Bonaire. Peter

Mercy, I tried to watch it at work but it kept slowing down/stalling. I'll watch it on my laptop when I get a chance. What I did see, looked great (wil's...YUMM!)

That stock diving footage was just that...I didn't shoot it, I just bought it from Roger. I thought the little trunk fish looked like it kept coming back to the diver, that maybe it liked it? But I know that's a no no...can't change it now though.

Carol,

I went birding with local expert Jerry Ligon who has that book. It is hard to find. I was going to contact some book sellers in Amsterdam to track it down. On the day I went with Jerry, we spotted 35 birds. It was a life transforming day. Now, I see Bonaire from a different vantage point with a different perspective. I highly recommend a day with Jerry to ALL. I wish the local school kids could enjoy a day with Jerry. He taught me so much. I am going to buy some binoculars now as I am officially a bird geek.

Thanks Jim..for the kudos and for your help.

I am reshooting the opening pirate segment tomorrow morning as I got too many comments that it was cheesy, and not natural...I thought I was just being my hammy self! But it will be even better with a map of Bon and all.

Hope you will all take another peek at it when it is up. I'll post it on here again.
