It seems Bonaire Reporter or someone on that list has a virus so there are multiple messages being sent particuliarly from one recipient who is out of the office and who has auto reply. I get up to 20 emails from him every 5 minutes.

Anyone on island please call George and alert him. He may need to disable this today until the problem is resolved..

Annie

Yeah I am getting it also. Had 167 messages from Bonaire Reporter. Luckily I have an offline reader with an "exclude address" fuction which is now set to delete the messages before they are downloaded. Still takes a while to work through them.
We are leaving for Bonaire in the morning so I hope this gets fixed soon. If not I hate to think what my mailbox will look like when we get back!

Looks like the problem is solved.
After 190 e-mails it is quite at the moment.
Hope it will stay like this.
Thanks you Ann for your assistance.
Birgit

Anyone know if this thing is spawning a virus if the message is read? There didn't appear to be any attachments.

I have 245 messages in a web based mailbox to purge.

Bill

We've been bombarded for over a week with the Klez virus. We actually have taken the step of blocking email to all our customers from known infected senders. The problem is also that the to: field can be any email address from the infected computer and not the actual sender. And it has over 120 message variants with almost any type of attachment including .exe, .pif, .vcf, .bat, or even no suffix at all.

If you have Anti-virus software installed, it may be striping out the attachment and quarantining it for you. My Norton software quarantines it so I cannot see it from email or explorer and click on it by mistake.

Linda, did you get the email I sent you several days ago about the coffee? Haven't heard from you about which flavors and sizes. We have been having trouble with our email. Our provider is blocking some emails so if you replied, I didn't get it!

The Bonaire Reporter mailing was the result of a mail loop caused by a vacation message sent by the mail server of one of the list subscribers. Not a virus. Just got off the phone with George DeSalvo and he thinks it's all fixed such that it won't happen again.

Leigh Ann,
I got your message but I've been backlogged here. My kids had the first 3 days this week off from school. Eeek! So instead of the email queen, I become Mom's entertainment committee supplying munchies, craft items, game players, and anything else to keep boredom at bay. I'll email you back.

Well, kids...it seems to be happening again today...I just went to check on my email while surfing BT and there were five or six more emailings from unknown folks announcing the Latest Edition of Bonaire Reporter....I hope they can permanently straighten this out as it could get taxing after a while....can someone on Bonaire contact George to let him know it is happening again today, May 4?? It just did it a few moments ago around 1:00PM or so. Thanks!! Carole

Same here Carole,

At least Dan Jarboe or whoever the heck that was isn't happening again..I got at least 100 auto replies from him..YIKES..

It is a super day on Cape Cod..warm and sunny and blue sky. I raked the yard a bit now off for my first Spring windsurf session in Nantucket Sound. I am so spoiled..I have to rig my sail and get into the cold water..brr..wish I were back in Bonaire with rigged gear and warmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm water..

Would you believe after all of the "notifications" of the Latest Edition of the Bonaire Reporter being emailed to me, I have forgotten to actually access the website to read the Latest Edition of the Bonaire Reporter!! I deleted all of the notifications so "out of sight...out of mind" ....LOL. I do hope this problems is resolved now. I know poor George must be going nuts with this problem, too. Carole

THe first few hundred messages from that one person were part of the mail loop. All the subsequent messages were all the hacked-off subscribers yelling about the extra email (and thereby creating even more extra email!)...

There's yet another virus being sent out to everyone in your address book. If you get it, please don't delete the file. If by chance you have already deleted the file please go to this link for information:

Per the most recent note, George not only had FreeList purge the list, he purged FreeList from Bonaire Reporter. Now we will get no weekly notification, we just log in and read the paper each Friday.

Michael is correct...it is a hoax. A friend of mine sent me a note telling me to delete this .exe and I knew enough to do some research first. Do NOT delete this .exe..it is harmless and part of the Windows package for Java script. Carole
Here is another good website to refer to for checking on whether virus alerts are hoax, for real, etc. Urban Legends and all that....cb
