Dear fellow BTers, Can someone tell me if a driver's license is required to ride a moped or scooter on the street? Do they require license plates? My wife does not have a driver's license but she will need to get around to run errands and such. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Jack.

I have never been anywhere, except rural America on private land, where you could drive a scooter without some sort of drivers license, but I suppose it's possible. If you are staying close to town, she could walk or bicycle.

I of course don't know if your wife has ever ridden a scooter. While the principle is the same, a scooter is not a bicycle. Twenty five or 30 MPH. is easily possible. On a bike 10 to 15 is fast. Bottom line, a fall or crash on a scooter does a lot more damage. I have no numbers, but I'll bet a lot more people are hurt on scooters than are hurt in car accidents on Bonaire.
