We will be arriving on Saturday, the 18th. Our plans leave CUR ar 17:00 (5:00 PM). It's a divi divi flight.

I will have with me two young children. Will we have enogh time to get to bel-mar and check in, and still get to the market in time to buy milk (and Beer)? Will have ordered the wine ahead of time.

I think the market closes at 7PM so I think you would be pretty pressed for time to get there.

Yes, Cultimara closes at 7 pm on Saturday, and it's nowhere near Bel-Mar.
Jay, lots of stores on Bonaire sell groceries, but you've picked a place to stay which is far from them all. And some of those stores are closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday.
The closest which should be open is probably Tera Cora Trading. If you go there BEFORE you go to Belmar, you have an even better chance of finding it open.
Turn right out of the airport. The first paved road to the right you come to will be marked by a blue and white sign saying Tera Cora. Turn right. Take your first left. Tera Cora Trading will be a short distance down that road on your left.
If that does not work, retrace your steps (take a right turn and another right turn) and keep going straight until you see Lisa Gas on your right. Take a right turn and another right turn into Lisa Gas. You will find a mini-market there which sells milk for sure and probably beer too.
Cultimara in town opens at 9 a.m. on Sunday
Enjoy Bonaire!

jay, if your plane is on time you could make it to cultimara before it closes. since you have young kids i don't know if you could make it to belmar, get the kids and luggage inside, and make it to cultimara before it closed. it's possible but you'd be cutting it close. i'd consider going to the store as soon as you leave the airport,

two years ago we landed about 6PM, got our luggage and rental car and made it to cultimara by 645. but it was just two of us...no kids. we bought beer, chips, milk, coke, coffee, and cereal...just the essentials. then we went back the next morning and bought the other stuff.

Jay, I went to the Lisa Gas Mini Market today and checked. They have both cold beer in one of the refrigerators and cases of beer. And of course they have milk. They have a pretty good stock of other supplies too.
If I had two small children I would not take them to Cultimara. It is huge, and you would have to search to find what you're looking for. I don't recall ever seeing cold beer there, but I might have missed it.
To get to Lisa Gas, just turn right out of the airport and drive to your first big four way intersection. Turn right and an immediate right into Lisa Gas. The Mini Market is to the left. It's small and easy to shop. And it's not such a long way from the airport either.
Then on Sunday you can hit Cultimara between 9 and 2.
Enjoy Bonaire! I know I've already said that, but it's worth repeating. And you will enjoy it! :-)

that's right...i forgot that the beer wouldn't be cold. we've usually gotten warm beer and put a few in the freezer while we unpack...by the time we're unpacked they are cold enough to drink. that's good to know about lisa gas tho...i've never thought of that. are they open till 11PM too (i think that's when the gas station closes, isn't it?)?

They are open long hours, but don't know the exact times. Sigh. Guess I need to go back there?

Jay - looks like we will be at Belmar at the same time. If you need an experienced teenage babysitter, drop me an email. (hope this doesn't violate self-promotion rules!)

The self-promotion rules are pretty annoying. Gosh, I wonder if there is anywhere with walking distance of the Belmar where someone could buy a cold beer?

Like (wink) across the street. I've also heard that there is a really good selection to choose from.

Sorry, Jay. We keep milk handy for our own uses, but there is essentially no demand for NA beer.

You guys are cracking me up...lol ;-)

Jay, In the past I've requested that some items be purchased and in the fridge when I arrive at Belmar. Send the staff at note and ask if it can be done (milk at least, go across the street to Great Escape for the beer...wait, Kevin, do you serve NA beer?) If not, then ask for NA beer...

Harriet at Belmar has always been most helpful in stocking a few necessities when we arrive on the late AE flight...of course, they will charge you for it ;-)
