I heard yesterday from a friend that a new "disco" is opening in Lageoun?? Meringue music and what not..also one in town where paradise used to be?? Now, some go to Bongos for music. Also City and Karels.

Checked out the place at Lagoen friday night. Also drove over there last Saturday night.. looked very busy judging by all the cars parked. Friday wasn't so busy. Music was merengue and salsa stuff. I doubt if they will play anything else!!

Shorts are okay if you want to look really out of place. There are no exact 'dress codes' but you'll never see a local man in something other than jeans or slacks and a decent shirt. Girls tend to dress up as usual for a night out dancing, though there's probably a lot more spandex here (and used in very interesting ways i'm sure the inventor never imagined).

Hi...just found yuor message. So dress casual is fine for the dancing, how about for dining? I hear everything form shorts on up. I really hate to take along a bunch of dress clothes when most of the time we will be out and about but will take a few for the night spots if any. Want to keep the load down to one bag and a carry on.

I think what Ruth is saying is that a set of dockers or jeans, along with a polo shirt or buttoned shirt, is about as dressy as things normally get here (for tourists anyhow - we do have occasional black tie functions on the island :-) ).
