We are returning for our 3rd trip to Bonaire and like to stay in the Sabadeco area. Sun Rentals has let us know that the water access place in the Shores development has been built over by new houses and there is now nowhere to enter the water. In 2002 there was a small path leading down to a ladder by the Barcadera dive bouy. Does anyone know if this access is still there? Or do any of you know another path to the water nearby without going all the way over to AndreaII?

As far as I am aware, you can gain access at Oil Slick Leap, which is just at the bottom of the hill past Caribbean Club, to the left. Also if you are going to rent on the water in Sabedeco, you should be able to access the water right off your back yard. Enjoy!

Yes, Oil Slick Leap has a (relatively) new ladder in.

I believe Sajo's Reef (Court #44A) is a Sun Rental property that has its own ladder in.

Shores has a ladder that was damaged during Ivan, not sure if it has been replaced or not.

Many owners in Sabadeco pay a yearly fee for access to the Sabadeco Pier. If the owners of your rental have payed up, they should be able to provide you with the combination to the lock on the gate to the pier (one driveway north of Courts 44A). This pier was heavily damaged during Ivan, but has been partially rebuilt--enough to get in and out.

Thank you for the recent info. It appears that SunRentals does not provide a key to the Sabadeco pier. And last two trips we did stay at Crown Courts 44A on the water and that was great aside from being burglurized while staying there. We would go to the same house again but it was booked up for our dates so we are not on the water this time.

We will just have to drive to a water entrance I guess. We were hoping to find access within walking distance for that leasurly evening snorkel.
