Anyone heard about AJ discontinuing service to Bonaire as of Aug 28th? Newsletter alert form "Undercurrents" says this is going to happen. Anyone heard of any other airline going to replace their service? Don't know the reason for their decision; maybe someone stole the plane while they were asleep! LOL

Just got the bad news today via our agent in FL! We were finalizing our November trip and they shared the press release dated May 12th.

Sooooooooooooo now it looks like we may abort November as I don't want to fly AA from Richmond, VA to Miami to San Juan to Bonaire with major layovers! FORGET IT.........Miami left a bad taste in our mouth from the old ALM days.

Guess we'll regroup, maybe look at other islands OR possibly go earlier with AJ prior to the cutoff date of August 28th! This totally miffs me off as we wanted to keep our annual streak of vising Bonaire alive. We've been going since 1994 and two years ago decided to go twice annually.

We were looking hard at buying a unit at BelMar but will back off of those efforts until a later date. Sorry to hear of AJ's financial woe's; praying things get better!

Check directly with Air Jamaica. I was told by them that they are trying to reroute people with existing reservations, either on other airlines or via Curacao. Unfortunately, in my case I was traveling using Delta SkyMiles, and there weren't any award seats available for around my planned dates of travel. You don't lose anything by asking, and you might get lucky.

AA via CUR, then with DiviDivi airlines to BON is pretty easy (if you take the morning flight out of MIA). If you take the afternoon AA MIA/CUR flight, you can connect with the 10pm Bonexel CUR/BON flight.

You can use your Delta Sky Miles to fly Delta to Aruba.

So here comes our Air Jamaica swan song (in two days) - in our four trips to Bonaire on AJ, they have never been late (in fact they have arrived on Bonaire 20-30 min early every time) - gonna miss those cramped but timely flights...

Warning, Bill and Donna:
On Friday night, AJ canceled their LA to Montego Bay flight, and on Saturday morning they canceled Boston to Montego Bay. Don't know what else they might have canceled. They did try to reschedule passengers on other flights.
Good luck!
Tish

Beware of AJ cancel date as of Aug. 28th. We were scheduled for 7/21-28 and were cancelled. I found out not from AJ but from our hotel. I was re-routed. Word to the wise: find the flights you want and tell AJ or they will put you on their choices. They had me making 5 stops. I am now direct newark to aruba on USAIR, then aruba to bonaire on Dutch Eagle. Call NOW!!

Dutch Eagle? Hmmmm. I don't think I have heard of them. Non Stop from Newark into Aruba and then over to Bonaire is terrific! Good luck, Leslie and thanks for the tip.

We are leaving on Saturday...I'd better call now. CArole

My friend and I got the news other day from Air Jamaica also as we have used them for our travels to Bon. For us it was/has been GREAT....direct flight from Chicago O'Hare to Montego Bay then MB to Bon. On time, nice people, layover in MB not bad at all. Gonna be a PIA to figure something else out. Sheesh. Does American Airlines fly to Bon from San Juan? Can't say I ever saw an AA flight on Bon.......

We have used AA to San Juan and American Eagle to Bonaire for the last several years without a problem. We can get to Bonaire in one day from Texas. We started with ALM, then AJ once (bad experience) and AA every since.
