Having heard some bonairean, papiamento language music I have been dying for a good CD of it. This trip, I got lucky.

The Foyan Boy'z are the real thing and they are a lot of fun to listen too. It really invokes a feeling of being in Bonaire and especially the wonderful heart of the Bonairean people. The African origins of Bonairean culture are also very apparent in the beat and pace of the music.

If you like Bonaire, you are about guaranteed to like the Foyan Boy'z.

At this time, the only way I know of to get the "Foyan Boy'z" album "Ana Thode Live" is to go to the Rum Runners cafe at Capt. Don's Habitat and ask for Dennis. He is a member of the band as well as a waiter there (except weekends) The manager of the restaurant knows of Dennis's interest so if you call ahead, Dennis will be sure to bring in his CD next time he comes to work. At least, that's how it worked for me.

Thanks Geoffrey, I didn't know Dennis was in a band - he is a great guy. Have they performed at Habitat?

They have not performed at Habitat to my knowledge. I made this discovery by asking around about some "Good local music".

If anyone at Habitat is listening ... this is a really good idea. I'd love to see them perform.

I got a copy of "E Herensia" downtown at the book/magazine store. I don't remember the name of the place. I also got CD's "Mis Pensamientos" by the Latin Jazz Quartet and "Kas di Bara" by Grupo Titti Frutti.

Hey Floris, how goes the "Tastes of the Caribbean" preparations? Good luck with that - it's coming soon, isn't it?

Thanks for the info on the Foyan Boy'z! We won't be back this year (I'm going for my other hip operation in September) but maybe next Jan-Feb or so... I hope we can be there when the Boy'z are back at Habitat!
