If you enter the BON with a passport and it expires while you are out, can you re enter the USA? Thanks...

Not after the new change occurs. You can renew expired US passports at the consulate in Curacao, but it is expensive and tedious...

Effective 12/2005 you need the passport to return to the US from the Carib.

There are LOTS of 24-72 hour renewal services out there.

I've renewed recently with the consulate in Curacao, and it went very smoothly (guess they finally got the system straightened out-in the past, it was very tedious). I couldn't believe how fast I got my new one back, within 10 days from drop-off. I did hand-deliver my old passport, photos, cashier's cheque, etc, and also gave them a filled out Fedex Int'l airway bill, which helped. They have certain mornings for walk-ins; call 09-461-3066--you can probably get them to fax you the form/info for the US$ cashier's cheque, etc., so you're ready when you go over. Andre at Kodalux does passport pix (be sure to take him the form the consulate gives you-it's very specific about the image size).

Also, TWR (Trans World Radio) has the forms needed to fill in to re-new your passport via the consulate in Curacao. Everything can be done using Fed-Ex - both to send and receive. My husband did it this way and it was pretty seamless.

Good Luck Anne :-) (Also with the windsurfing tournament !)

I don't know if this applies to someone outside the US, but I just renewed mine by mail, downloaded the forms online, etc. The requirements are pretty simple--send in the old passport, 2 pictures, and $67.
A Google search for passport should get one to the Passport Office in the US.

They have increased the renewal fee by $12.00 over what it says on the form. Just got my new one yesterday from Curacao.
