Stayed on Bonaire in December a couple of years back and got killed by bug bites. Coming in July this time. Any difference in time of year in relation to the killer mosquitos?

Rich...we go to Bonaire every June/July and Karen always gets devoured, but mosquitos don't seem to bother me...I guess it depends on the persons body chemistry, etc.

It mostly depends upon how much rain has/is falling. December usually has more rain than July, hence more mosquitos, but it's unpredictable, so bring whatever pump spray works for you.

I literally got eaten alive in July. Was using 100% DEET throughout the day and still looked as if I had chicken pox! Plus the DEET all over your body makes the evening alone with the wifey rather awkward! Oh well, I'm ready for the onslaught!

Just got back for Bonaire. We did not have any rain the first week, and no mosquitos. It rained the second week, and the few first mosquito hatchlings were ravenous. They were only located in a garden area where we were staying. I'm sure there was some standing water somewhere, but we didn't find it. Bug spray worked for us.

Getting ready for our 7th trip to Bonaire, never noticed they had skeeters down there, maybe being from louisiana, where the skeeter is the state bird, has made us immune
