Has anyone had any luck finding herbal preparations on the island? Know of any alternative physicians or naturopaths or even a physician who is knowledgeable in these areas? Need supply of natural antibiotics like buchu, uva ursi(could use these two right now if possible to find them),etc-does the botica have any?-some of the best are German products-how about on Curacao if none here? Any info would be appreciated.

Dennis,
We've found the easiest thing to do (and in most cases the cheapest) is to have friends bring or send what we need from the US. The selection is limited and the supply sporadic, and often much more expensive when you can find what you're looking for. So if there's anything you really rely on, plan ahead!
Alex
P.S. I'm going to the states at the end of the month, send me an email if you'd like me to pick anything up for you--I'm taking a BIG suitcase :-).

Dinah Veeris on Curacao runs Den Paradera, a herb garden and store with all kinds of neat medicinal products. I had the pleasure of working with her on a documentary in 2004. Check out rootsandmedicine.com
A visit to Den Paradera is well worth a day trip.
