We're staying on Bonaire during May. We will take our little Big Man (Casper, then 9 months) with us to enjoy this wonderful Island.

Q's: Does anyone know if we can rent a baby car seat somewhere or if we should arrange to take one with us ourselves?

And: Any special recommendations to think about with such a lil'one? Any good suggestions on how to protect him against the bug-bites?

91 days and counting!!!!! :-)

See ya'all soon

Hello Michael,
To me, the biggest problem seems to be sunburn. But forgive me for asking: What are you planning to do on Bonaire? Diving or snorkeling with your partner is out of the question, I think. Or do you bring a baby sit with you? I love Bonaire, but there is very little to do, apart from diving/snorkeling! Or am I wrong?

:-)

We have bought VERY SMALL scuba gear LOL
No: We also are taking with us Grandma and Grandpa to watch our little big man while we are "under", so that's taken care of.

We have been to Bonaire before and true: Apart from an exciting trip through Slagbaai (eeehh?) it sort of ends with the diving and snorkling bit....

We traveled to Bonaire with our son each year starting when he was nine months. It was always enjoyable. I recommend that you bring his own car seat for his safety and comfort and your peace of mind. I doubt there are any for rent on Bonaire and even if there are who knows what condition they will be in. Carry it on board the plane, even if you haven't bought a seat for him because if there are unoccupied seats he will have extra safety during the flight, and you will all be more comfortable.

The mosquitoes seem to love tender babies. I suggest you bring mosquito netting for sleeping. Generally, there are no mosquitoes during full daylight. At other times, keep him in long pants, sleeves, and socks (especially around dawn and dusk).

You might try Avon skin so soft bath oil, I think it keeps the mossies at bay and it may be gentle enough for the little one.
