A friend in Aruba needs a 5.0 meter windsurf sail to be shipped from Hawaii to Aruba. It will cost 100.00 USD. Any ideas?? Annie

Is that an air cargo quote from an airline or is it as excess baggage? Sometimes it is cheaper to ship as air cargo and it can be directly insured. Also check out freight forwarders for rates, they can give you good prices if you are willing to do a slower shipment time frame.

Hi Annie,

100 USD doesn't sound so bad. Seafreight to Aruba from there will run much more for such a 'small' package. Trans-shipment fees in US will run more than USD 100 for sure. There is no sea carrier that will ship directly to Aruba. It will go through a bunch of freight forwarders in the US or elsewhere all wanting to make some money on bill of lading and documentation fees. So if you can ship this airfreight or courier for 100$ you'll be well off. Keep in mind an airline handling fee and the cost of customs clearance on Aruba.

Cheers
Bas
