I enjoy places like Belize, Cozumel where there is great street and local foods. Yeah, inexpensive is the word too.

I've seen only mention of sit-down restaurants. Anything else there? What does a beer cost (now getting to the important stuff).

Thanks.

Bob

1. Julia's Place on Kaya Grandi and Kaya Gerharts
2. The Spanish snack shop next to NAPA
3. The green snackette down past NAPA on Kaya Jean BF Vitte at the end on right
4. Bobbijan's ribs to go
5. KFC in town (haven't been yet but many say it's finger licking good)
6. Nadia Snack Chinese on Kaya Emerenciana across from Gibys
7. Spanhoek Suriname near Catholic Church
8. Carceneria Latina Sat. BBQ take out (off Nikiboko Zuid
9. Op=Op Smoked Chicken BBQ in Antriol on Kaya Korona

I do not drink beer but when I crave a Guinness they are about 3,75 FL in the Chinese restaurants which are very cheap. I think KFC has cheap Heinekens.

We (KFC) serve Heineken, Amstel & Polar, all for fls 2,50 each (tax included). That's $1.42. Chinese & most snacks also have it for about this price (although most, like KFC, won't serve "Amstel Bright," just regular Amstel); hotels/sit-downs probably average fls 4-7/beer (appx $2.25-$4); fancier English, Irish, German, Belgian, etc. beers are usually more.

Bob,
Regarding beer prices, most beer on Bonaire comes in small (not sure, I think about 8 oz)cans/bottles.So adjust the prices in the above posts accordingly. If you'll have a fridge, just go to one of the supermarkets and stock up. The Lion's Den over at Buddy/Lions dive has some good stuff on tap, including Old Speckled Hen. We never miss the barbecue at the Carneceria Saturdays. Put in your order in the AM then go back & pick it up. They always sell out. Sort of pit-smoked chicken and ribs, no gooey sauce.

I was just thinking about my upcoming trip, realized both Saturdays are holidays! Anyone know if the Carneceria will be doing barbecue anytime during the Christmas/New Years week????

Ounce per ounce, beer is very expensive on Bonaire. (comparing to Northern California) I switched to drinking rum after the first case of Amstel. My advice - stock up on Rum if you go through Puerto Rico. Buy the max going both ways. Oh I almost forgot. They do have Orangeboom beer which comes ion 11 oz bottles. (We get it here at Trader Joe's) Much better to have fewer trips to the fridge.
