On another thread Ann, Josie & I have discussed the Plaza beach. Josie & Ann have commented that it is probably the best Resort beach on the island. My recollection from our stay in 1997 was that it was a pretty lousy beach (certainly compared to Sunset, which was still open & HV). So can anybody tell me if the beach has been improved? Perhaps after Lenny? Omaybe my memory truly is going!!!

Also, I wouldn't mind hearing the latest on HV, if there is any...

Thanks all.

I was there in August and it had lots of sand, still some coral bits. I think someone mentioned recently that they'd added more sand?

Thomas, we've been travelling to BON since 1998, and to be honest with you, I have always thought the Plaza beach to be a very well kept beach, with good, easy access into the ocean. I'm sure there have been improvements over the years, though I don't exactly know what those improvements are! There is a shop at one end of the beach, where you can hire boats and buy BON bits! The other end has a volleyball net and there are loungers scattered all over. I understand that the steps at the Tipsy are to be replaced soon, so that's good news!

HV.. well, when we had dinner at Captain Wook's last month, we were told that the Hotel is now an exclusive residential community,(no more short term holiday rentals)..shame.

Regarding the beach at Plaza, we added a lot of sand recently between the road entrance and the beach bar. The next stretch is scheduled end of this month.....And Sarah......the steps into the water at the Tipsy pier were installed this weekend......see, I told you...a little faith and a lot of patience
Steve

Hi Steve, I am relatively new here. What do you do at Plaza? I was there as a guest travel agent in Oct.

Also, just curious, where do you get sand?

Annie, Steve may not answer you very quickly! He's the Manager of the Dive Operation at Plaza:)

I'll leave the sand bit to him/or whoever!

S:)

Aha, I knew I wasn't dreaming! Thanks for the update Steve. Now those comments about the great Plaza beach makes more sense!

BTW, Steve is the Dive manager and a great guy to boot. When our dive gear was temporarily misplaced by ALM, he took great care of us until it NEVER arrived. Bonaire is full of great people who will help to make your vacation great and Steve is certainly one of them!

The sand comes from Curacao I believe. We buy it from a company on Bonaire that brings it over.
Sarah, I'm doing my best see......
