With crude oil at all time highs what is the price of gasoline on Bonaire currently going for?

It takes six months or more for oil to go from producing country to pump in the US; prices should lag that way. Don't do that very often!

We paid $1.62 Naf for 1 litre, or about $3.20 a gallon about 2 weeks ago. I'm sure down the road the price will go up as it has here in the States. In Southern NJ I saw prices of $1.94/gallon for regular unleaded and $2.02 for Plus and $2.08 for supreme. Diesel is even higher.

Last night's price: NAF 1,66 for Super and NAF 1,6250 for Regular. At an exxhange rate of 1,78 to the dollar, that translates to US$0.9325 per liter for Super (and a smidgin less for regular). At 3.7854 liters to the gallon, you're looking at US$3.53/gallon.

You can also get the latest quarterly prices of gasoline, wholesale and retail via the reports post at http://www.bonaireeconomy.org

I am paying close to $2.30/$2.40 per gallon for 93 octane her in Northern NJ...not far behind Bonaire. Ours keeps fluctuating with the rise and fall of the per barrel price of crude. It's not going to get any better quickly. We have a lot of taxes here in NJ, too.....it does not help. We are "full service" tho and I like it that way especially in inclement weather and we get a LOT of that here in Northern NJ! LOL. Carole

PS As I recall, the octane is much higher on Bonaire than what we use in our vehicles.

I went to Venezuela the last week for the Venezuelan-American car trade summit, the gas price is 10 US cents (1 litre. super gas) is incredible how cheap it is. here in Bonaire the price is 1.65. NF per litre.

JJ, that IS amazing! It shows the value/cost mark-up and high taxes that are involved in the rest of the world. Is it that cheap because they produce and refine their own crude oil? Carole

Carole.you are right, they produce and refine their own crude oil, and is amazing because a little bottle of mineral water is more expensive than 7 litres of gas.....jj

When I lived in El Paso, TX one could cross the border into Mexico and get really cheap gas. But it was not good gas. It was lower quality, lower octane and did not contain the various additive and detergents that the gas in the US have. So it is not really just the markup and taxes that make the cost higher.

In Holland we pay approx € 1.30 per liter for 95 octane; if I calculate correctly, that's about $ 6.25 per gallon.

Thank you to all who replied. We always rent a Toyota Hi Lux to do some Island exploring. That is a big plus to keep going back to Bonaire. So much of the Island and people one meets adds to the charm of Bonaire. You can't experience Lac Cai, Rincon, the Park, the "Wild Side",etc. without exploring.
