I found the words to it, but can't find it sung. Anyone have a pointer to an MP3, or at least a MIDI?

I also found the sheet music, but ever since puberty I've only been able to sing in the key of Q#. I've been "visually tone-deaf" since I gave up singing (at the insistence of friends and family), so the sheet music is pretty much worthless.

Here's the words, in case you're curious too (I'm an info-maniac):

1. Our islands in the sea, like gems they seem to be,
outstanding from a golden crown of blissful royalty.
Though their people and their cultures colorful may seem,
they yet uniquely blend to be just one family.

BRIDGE:
So we, your people raise our voice in love and unity

REFRAIN:
Dear Netherlands Antilles, so beautiful to me.
I'm proud to be a part of you, a patriot I shall be.
Yes Netherlands Antilles, I pledge my loyalty,
To you always will be true; I say may God bless you.

2. So blessed with sunny skies and clear welcoming seas,
each island like a link that forms this chain of unity.
May differ in our language, yet meet on common ground,
When some say "Sweet Antilles", some say "Dushi Antia ta".

3. Yes, proud are we to be identified with you,
dear Netherlands Antilles, to you we will be true.
So we declare and vow, with dignity and love,
Our nation we will always serve, may God keep us as one.

Yeah, nice text... but the unity of the Netherlands Antilles does not exist.
Tomorrow is Antillen Day, some speeches from the politicians I guess .. nice for the employees to have a day off.. and that is it !!
We have to see how long there will still be The Netherlands Antilles ... 2 years ??? 3 years ??? Not much longer than that I hope !!

I fully agree with you Brigitte!
btw, this is the Bonairean anthem:

Tera di Solo y suave biento
Patria orguyoso Sali for’i lamá
Peublo humilde sèmper contento
Di un kondukta tur pasti gabare
(Land of the sun and soft breeze
praud land resurrected from the sea
modest people, always satisfied
always bravely defending themselves)

Pues lage nos trata tur dia
Pa sèmper nos Bireinu ta menta
Pa nos canta den bon aromania:
Dushi Bonairu nos patria stima
(let we try every day
to announce Bonaire
And we sing in good harmony:
Delighthful Bonaire, our beloved fatherland)

Laga nos tur como Boneireano
Uni nos canto, alsa nos bos
Nos cu ta yiu di un pueblo sano
Semper contentu sperando den Dios
(Let us together as Bonaireans
all sing and raise our voices
we, being children of a healthy race
always happy, beleiving in God)

Ningun poder por kita e afecto
Cu nos ta sinti pa e isla di nos
Make chikitu cu su defecto
Nos ta stimele aribu tur cos
(No power can take us this love away
as we feel it for our island
although it's small and not perfect
we love it more than anything)

Sorry, I don't know the music either, although an old man recently sang it to me.

The antillian anthem is written by Zahira Hiliman from Sint Maarten, it's called "the anthem without a title", and is the anthem since 2000

You can hear the anthem sung every day at noon on one of the local radio stations na Boneiru, so a recording must exist. It's a sweet tune you can whistle, but until today never had the words beyond the last line of the chorus: Dushi Boneiru da dum da di dum.
{Hi Brigitte!}

you can buy a CD From emma sintjago, she recorded the national anthem long time ago,so you can find it in some shops or ask for her at the KLM offices (she use to work there) or call to any local radio station and perhaps they can record a cd or a tape for you....bluefish

Whoops, looks like I struck a nerve... POP! (sound of removing foot from mouth). Hope I'm not there when the Klein Bonaire Liberation Front makes their move.

Forget I asked. Anyone have a translation of the Bonairu anthem, instead? I'm not even gonna TRY to pretend that my Papiamentu is up to the task, since I've only found a handful of words translated so far.

Danki,
Stan Eker, AKA Poopsie Pottybuns (found the old thread from 27 March). I also located the original source. Hunt for "Captain Underpants" and "Name Changer". The original version has me as "Snotty Girdlebuns", as compared to the modified method that Christine posted.

Stan, as you can see, you're not the only info-maniac around here ;-)
I did put the english translation after each stanza, between brackets,....

OK, so I'm a *blind* info-maniac. I hit the first few lines of Papiamentu and my mind went into neutral at the odd words, and I never saw the rest of what you'd written...

I can read a little Dutch if pressed, since I spoke some Deutsch when I was very young, but the Papiamentu has me stumped. Living right next door to Mexico and I never bothered to learn the language, beyond how to order food and get my face slapped (hopefully not both at once). Looks like it would have helped. Heck, I don't even remember how to ask "Where's the potty?" in Spanish, which could get embarrassing in an emergency.

Thanks for the lyrics AND especially the translation, Karin!

Don't feel bad Stan, you're not the only one who missed it

just a little input from my part so you know the anthem your now discussing is not the netherlands antilles anthem. It is the bonarean anthem. each island of the netherlands antilles has it's own anthem and there's 1 national anthem for all 5 islands.
