Sarah,,,my daughter and her boyfriend are planning on coming over in Feb...(I did protest this trip a bit since she will be missing school and this is her last semester in college, plus you must know of my flying phobia!) I believe she is going to England (London) second time for her, Ireland, Italy and Greece...she hasn't more than a dime to her name but guess she feels good ole' Mom will help out later on if need be. Anything you could recommend in February..? you know...Convent tours, police escorts, libraries? :}

Meryl, you're a good Mum:) Don't worry about your daughter and boyfriend whilst they're here, it's plenty safe. Just tell them to make sure they grab a black taxi if they're out late at night (early hours of morning)! And to avoid using mini cabs at all times. Of course this rule doesn't apply all over England, just London. There's so much to see in London, and the first thing I would recommend they purchase is a tube map (London Underground). Most of the attractions are in Zone 1, so it will be easier for them to purchase a Zone 1 travel card. There's a lot to see in London, the usual tours, Tower of London; Buckingham Palace for changing of the guard; Westminster Abbey; Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, 300 years of history there.. (Covent Garden Tube); London Eye, and so on.. if they're interested in history, the Churchill's Britain at War Experience over at Tooley Street SE1 (London Bridge on London Underground), is well worth a visit. For an interesting place to stop and have lunch, I would suggest the Sherlock Holmes Pub, mentioned in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tale, "The Hound of the Baskervilles,". the pub is located at Northumberland Street SW1 (nearest tube is Charing Cross).
Oh, and to get away from the hustle and bustle, a walk in one of our many Central London parks.. or perhaps a trip on London Underground (District Line) to Kew Gardens, Surrey! When you say Greece, are they visiting Athens? If so, they'll love it.. so much to see there too from the Acropolis to The National Gardens.. they'll have a great time.. S:)

Oh, and Meryl, if they do come out here to Kew Gardens, tell them to let me know, I'll treat them to lunch in the Village!..S:)

Will do ...I should be ready to "hear" her travel schedule soon...I'm still trying to digest the quick trip....She's a good kid and loved her last trip, and they did pretty good except for Venice...their sleeping arrangements got a bit messed up, but it was a learning experience! When I get more info, I would love your input on what to avoid or not to avoid....Tanks! again!
