mom

Well...chapter closed....those that had wanted your contribution to go to the Cayman Islands Relief effort has gone to them (per my previous post). The rest of the unused portion of the PR funds ($1160.00) went to SupportBonaire.org, with the request that it be distributed to organizations that were in need of project funding, and in memory of Velva Joan Lee.

I got a note from Jake that the Board of Directors of SupportBonaire.org had voted to give the money to the Animal Shelter Bonaire. Here is an email I received this morning, and I just want to thank each and every one of you for helping me in a time of crisis, (I can only hope to repay you in some way..buy you a bright or more), and I'm glad that we can help this organization. I think it's very special that this is a "first" time project on Bonaire, and YOU ALL funded it!

quote:

Dear mrs. Cynde Lee,

I want to let you know that the money you donated in memory of your mother to Support Bonaire eventually came to our organisation The Animal Shelter Bonaire.
At this moment we are preparing the sterilisation project 2004. During the last 2 weeks of October everyone who doesn't have enough money can bring his/her dog to the vet for a free sterilisation. It's the first time for Bonaire that we have such a project so we hope this will be succesful.
For this project we need a lot of money and therefor we use your donation.

We want to thank you very much for your part in this project and if you need some more information about this project I be happy to send you.

Masha danki,

Lydia Duijn
Boardmember The Animal Shelter

Also, in an email that Jake had sent earlier from the shelter, this was from the shelter:

quote:

I trust that you will let the contributors from Bonaire Talk know that they have contributed to making a meaningful improvement to the lives of Bonaire's dogs.
Neutered dogs not only slow down the population explosion , they lead healthier, longer lives, due to less fighting and stress from multiple pregnancies.

I did use the moderator account to post a real nice picture of a real nice person.

This was a one-time-action.

The donations are beautiful, Cynde, and so is Mom...what a lovely gift and photo. She just brought a smile to my face. You know Mom is watching and smiling down on all of us right now. Thanks again. Carole

What a great gift in the name of a wonderful person!

Like Carol - seeing the photo brought a smile to my face. I know that she is watching over all of right now. And Martin is right - her daughter is watching out for us here on earth as well.

Thanks Cynde for completing the donation and posting the emails. Sounds like the money is going to a great cause.

Cynde,

Your mother reminds me of my mother. Some striking similarities. I will be bringing her with us again this year. She has been here 2 times before but only for a week at a time. And she usually got bored as with one week we would do 3 dives a day. With 2 weeks there isn't that pressure so this should be a more enjoyable trip for her. Thank you for sharing.

Mara

Cynde, what a beautiful picture of your mom and what a nice gesture of the money going to SupportBonaire.org. Is like I said before "she must be smiling" and proud of her daughter!!!
