just saw the movie " Open Water"...an independent film made about a couple left behind by the dive boat in open water...at least most of the movie was dive savvy....but predictable ending? what did you all think ? I kept saying.."put your fin up stupid !!!"swim to the boat ! don't just lay there and fall asleep..oops! guess I just gave the whole movie away

Thought the ending could have been better. But then I guess those were the facts, or close to it.

I think we should remove the diving part from the movie and look at what it wanted to accomplish. IMHO, I believe the directors wanted to convey the feeling of abandonment with the ensuing loneliness, how people of weak character fall apart under stressful circumstances, and how it could well happen to ANYONE of us (in fact, the day after I finally went to get my diver alert and safety sausage). I think the directors also wanted you to dislike the characters, the girl most of all. If we go by the technical details, well, I can easily come out with at least a dozen, but that would detract from the main message. I believe a lot of people who went to see this movie hated it because it was promoted as a "Blair Witch meets Jaws" when it was an entirely different product. Shows that some of those critics could use a c-card. Just my two cents. Coach Izzy
