Hi! I'm new to this board. My husband and I are traveling to Bonaire on Oct 6 and staying at Divi Resort. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for packing things for her that would not be readily available on the island such as diapers, baby food, wipes, etc. I am not sure what is available at grocery stores on the island since we have never visited there. I am trying to limit what I need to bring with me. She does eat some table foods but once again I am not sure what is on the local menus. She is not a picky eater though. I did see on one of the information boards that there is a grocery store called Bonaire Warehouse in the capital and we will have a rental car available to us. What do you suggest?? Also, any other suggestions anyone has for the plane travel are welcome as well!
Thanks,
The Rupeka's from Northern Virginia

Welcome Katina! This question has been asked before, so I'm sure someone will pipe in and help out.

Also, I have deleted your duplicate post under Local Items. Better to get folks to respond on one thread.

Have a great trip!

Cynde

Thanks Cynde! I wasn't sure how to delete. I thought this may be the more appropriate place for the question!

Katina,
We've traveled with our son to Bonaire when he was still in diapers, my suggestions: bring your brand of diapers and wipes; milk, juice, all other essentials can be bought at Warehouse or Cultimara's. We brought along a few indoor toys to get a break from the heat and sun.
The absolute musts: sunscreen, big hat, bug spray, WATER SHOES.
Have a great time, we are returning this May, can't wait to teach my son to snorkel.
Barbara

If your daughter is a fresh milk drinker, you may run into some problems eating out. If the restaurants offer milk, it is long-life shelf milk which has a different taste than fresh milk. My family is split 50-50 on this subject. My daughter loves to visit the US because she can get fresh milk everywhere. If this may be a problem for your child and you have a refridgerator available, buy all the fresh milk you will need at the beginning of the week at Cultimara. They run out about Tuesday and no more until Friday or Saturday.

For children, you can usually request a smaller portion meal, or parts of a meal like just plain pasta or rice. They will also be happy to serve up some food quicker if you request it. I always had starving, fidgeting kids with no patience.

And most important and a quote I'm known for - no Cheerios on Bonaire, bring your own if you want them. :-)

Can you buy baby food jars in grocery stores there? Also, does anyone have any experience with Air Jamaica and flying with infants?
