Is there any night life places that play Tecno or Dance music?

You can go to Amsterdam or Rotterdam?

Thanks Sonja, but that's a little far to drive. ;>) I'll be bringing along a portable CD player and a few CD's.
I understand the Tecno scene is great in Europe compared to the US. There are some hot spots in the US but Atlanta, GA not one of them.
Next time I get to South FL or the FL Keys, I'm planning to trip to SPACE in South FL.
I'll be in Bonaire October 2-9 with the ARDSC Group.

John, I recall only local musicians playing, and a couple of places that featured reggae, Afro-Caribbean, but no Tecno or Dance. Not for anything, but I'm grateful for that. Perhaps you'd like to hop to Aruba for a day? If not, Montreal Canada when you return. Weather is great this time of the year and the scenery cannot be beat.... Closer than Amsterdam too... Have fun! Hey John,

Well, my days of nightime dancing pretty much ended (I used to go out a lot with another BT girl) after the first few trip to BON. Karel's plays techno or used to...depended on the night and bartender..I recall many a night dancing to Da Ruda, Paul van Dijk and others.

Another BT person who has NOT been online a lot is Bas. He has GREATTTTTTTT Euro Tech trash..Bassiee..when r u gonna DJ at Bongos again??

John,

When will you be in Bonaire? BTW -there are quite a few of us BTers from the Atlanta area. I'm from Cumming, have met folks from Duluth and Marietta. I used to live in Marietta - for 13 years. Anywho - welcome.

I will be leaving for Bonaire this Saturday, October 2nd, then leaving the following Saturday. I will be with the Atlanta Reef Dwellers Scuba Club's trip. We will have a bunch of folks from the TN Aquarium and their diving spouses too. This will be my first trip to Bonaire.
Do you ever dive Lake Lanier? Check out our website and the pix of the clean-up last month.

Hey John - checked it out and want to make it to the October meeting actually. I understand you meet at Jock's & Jill's in Brookhaven. Is there anything special that I need to do before then? I have printed out the membership form - anything else that you can think of?

I think you are going to love Bonaire - but what do I know.

The only time I dove Lake Lanier was when I was practicing for my Instructor Certification and then when I was doing my Instructor Exams. I keep thinking I wouldn't mind diving there again BUT then I remember my ears and the water and I think a little better of the idea - LOL!

Trust me - if you are OK with diving in Lanier you might like the vis. in Bonaire a bit better.

Make certain you all do a trip report for us while you are there - and wave to the cameras so we can know you all made it.

I'm sure Saturday can come none too soon.

Mara

City Cafe caters to a young, predominently Dutch crowd, and they do play the music you're looking for, as well as latin & rock, (from around 11pm - 2am, when most divers are sleeping...). The week you're here is Regatta week, so there'll be all sorts of music every night; just walk back & forth between Karel's & City, like the locals do. When they close, late-late night (after 2-3am) is Donde Mero, (sp?), up the street from Telbo.

Mara,
We use a mixture of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol to put in our ears no matter where we dive. I've had an ear infection from lake water when I was a kid...no fun on vacation.

The club meeting starts around 7 PM but you may want to get there earlier to order your dinner and socialize. We have steering committee meeting there tonight...all are welcome.

All of the photographers will present some of their stills and video from Bonaire in a month or so, at the ARDSC meeting. I'm shooting both.

Ruth,
Thanks for the info. I'll check with John Stiggard tonight as to where those places are on Bonaire and I'll check my B&B map too.

John

Well then, we'll get there early for a dinner and socializing. Have a FABULOUS time in Bonaire. BTW Karel's is in the "city" and has the pier out over the water - can't miss it. Go south just a block or two and you'll find City Cafe very close to Town Pier and across from the waterfront market. At night it will only look like a stand.

Enjoy and we are looking forward to the meeting and to the Bonaire events.

Thanks everyone for all of the info. I told the dive club management group what I was looking for and they just rolled their eyes, LOL!

I'm looking forward to some dry caving also.
John
