My wife and I are arriving (hopefully) on Bonaire on 9-15 for a week stay at the Plaza resort. We were on Bonaire in 2001 and stayed at the Divi Flamingo. Although this is my first post here I have been reading and intently watching the goings on here for awhile. I have learned alot from reading and seems to be a great site!

As people who have been to alot of Carribean Islands diving, Bonaire is the best by far, hence our planned return trip. We can't wait! I enjoyed the Salt Pier dive the best and am planning on doing it again. We also plan on doing alot more night dives this trip.

Our only dilemma at the moment is Ivan, we are supposed to get on another plane at Montego Bay and were wondering what our fate will be since it appears Jamaica is in the midst of Ivan as I type. My travel agent hinted that they might "reroute" us elsewhere. Time will tell but in the meantime my mind is in Bonaire!

Let me welcome you here, James! I'm sure you will love this community, it is great. I hope you will have a great time in Bonaire, and that you will arrive there safe and on time, with not too much detours! Let us know how your trip was!

James, let's hope they don't have to re-route any flights. I would think things will be back to normal by the 15th. We got cancelled for today's trip but they already booked us for tomorrow's flight via Montego Bay. Ivan is passing 80 miles South of there right now. They seem rather optimistic. See you at Bongo's for BT night on Thursday?

I hope we see you guys tomorrow Gary, but I agree that that seems awfully optimistic. Keep us posted.

James,

I hope you and your wife enjoy your trip. We, my husband and I, had to change our plans a week due to Ivan. We will be at the Plaza the 17th for our 3rd year and can't wait. It looks like Jamaica was not hit head on so hopefully all will go OK with your travel plans. Safe travels.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. As indicated already Jamaica wasn't hit head on. We were planning for the worst case scenario nevertheless. Had we not been able to come this week, we would have made it another week. After being in Bonaire I have to come back. My wife really liked it too but she likes to see different islands but it didn't take too much coaxing to get her to come back to Bonaire. Its so peaceful, I can't wait.

Jake, I am soooooooooo bummed. Looks like the trip is off. We can't get a flight until Thursday so that just screws up our whole schedule.
Gary

Oh bummer! I went to look at the AJ site this morning, and they only had very limited flights listed for MoBay.

Keep us posted on when you get a chance to get down here.

Jake
