Our flight out of Miami thru Montego Bay for tomorrow (9Sep) has been cancelled. There is hurricane information on Air Jamaica's web site.
Well, we'll just head that way as soon after Ivan goes thru as we can.
Everybody stay safe!
Louise

JM closes down their flights anytime there is some system. I hope they re open them for Sat. and Sun. but if Ivan heads north, forget it. Sigh...bad luck for someone only having a week's vacation. Louise, you head south for a long period of time ya?

Yes, we're coming for 2 weeks & luckily can work around this with no problem. In fact, it might be better that we stay behind & take care of business here at home as Ivan could be paying us a visit as well. If so, this will be 3 for Florida in just a few weeks. Not good!

I'm here in Los Angeles. And you guys think earthquakes are more scary than hurricanes?? I don't think so! At least we haven't had a bad one in 10 yrs...you guys have hurricanes every year!

My thoughts and prayers are with all on Bon....stay safe and out of Harm's Way!

WEIRD!!! I just called AirJamaica back to ask a question about re-booking & was told that the flights have NOT been cancelled for tomorrow. Is this normal for them? All within about 3 hours I get two entirely different stories from the same source.
Guess we'll hold off until Ivan has done his thing & then head down.

What???????? Was the MIA MBJ leg cancelled due to Frances? I can see why the flight to BON would be cancelled or CUR or AUA but why MIA to MBJ?

Ok, due to the horrid experience JA had with Hurricane Gilbert (cat 3) they are very cautious. I know as I was there for Hurricane Charly last month. So, I can see them closing their airports soon as Ivan has a track headed their way.

Here is a funny story: I have flight notification from JM. On the 4th when we were set to depart at 3:10. I got a message from JM that the flight would leave at 3:50. I called the airport in BON and they had no such info and told me to skidaddle there as I was supposed to be in the departure lounge. Then I got another email notification within minutes saying the flight would leave at 4:20.

The airport did NOT get a message from JM until almost 3 PM.

It left at 4:20 PM. Upon arrival in MBJ it was a zoo..same situation as Mrs. Babcock reported. Our flight to BOS left at 6:20 (one hour late). When I got home I had a flight notification saying the MBJ BOS flight would leave at 6:20.

The morale of the story? USE THIS SERVICE. It was 100% correctomundo.

:-)
