I'll be visiting in a couple of months. Should I plan to include any surf-riding during my visit? I have the impression that waters are usually pretty calm around the island...

My windsurf friends all surf. They go to Baby Beach near Lac Bay. I think you should stick to Baby Beach or outside the reef at Lac Bay. Waves depend on the weather etc..

Good diving as well on Baby beach. Last november I had the oportunaty to make 2 dives there. 15+ southern stingrays and 2 reef sharks. Great dive!!

However, it should be noted that wave surfing on Bonaire is not for the faint of heart. At Baby Beach, you'll fine sea urchins and fire coral, as well as really sharp rocks, under foot - so you need to be a rather competent surfer to give it a whirl (and also go with someone experienced with Bonaire wave surfing).
