Jake, daytime speakers are now posted, but I don't see you listed! http://www.searovers.org/ws.exe/PublicDaytime
Do I need to clean my glasses, read the fine print :-) -- or has there been a change of plans?
Denise

Thanks for the notice. Jake has sent a message to find out what's up. I also sent a message pointing out to them they were missing info like dates, time and location.

For anybody new to Boston Sea Rovers:
Boston, Massachusetts
Copley Plaza Hotel (Fairmont)
March 2nd, 9am - 5pm for daytime speakers
March 3rd, 9:30am - 5pm
Exhibits are usually open 9am-5pm including during the lunch break
The Saturday (March 2nd) Evening Film Festival usually starts at 8pm and in the past has been held in the John Jancock Hall.
They also have workshops during the day like photo courses, PADI update, and O2. The workshops usually cost extra and you should sign up in advance. They have all the workshops listed on the web site with contact info.

Jack Chalk from Habitat (and the Jack that contributes to BonaireTalk occasionally) is a daytime speaker (March 2nd, 11am slot)

Bugs & Drugs: The Science & Medicine of Diving
Presenter - Tim O’Leary

This one should be worth the price of admission alone!!

Gives a clue why the BT divers are so crazy?

Cheers,

Bill

Which reminds me, Jake...Fred Dion at Underwater Photo Tech (they'll be at the show) sends his regards...I was buying a housing from him yesterday, pretty soon we were talking about Bonaire, and he mentioned you and Linda.

:( - I just got a note that I was pulled from the schedule, alas. I guess the topic wasn't exciting enough in contrast to those of some late comers. Rather disappointing.

I may not be going to Boston at that time after all (although I've already a ticket). I'll have to see how my commitments here on Bonaire (and elsewhere) pile up in February. Sigh.

Robert - we used to live in the same town (and prior to that, a neighboring town) as UW Photo Tech, and in fact, it was a trip I took to Bonaire with Fred Dion almost exactly 5 years ago which introduced me to this island.

Denise,

Linda wasn't going in any case. I may well still go up and relax as an attendee - just don't know yet. Once I know for sure, I'll post a note here.

Well, I'm sure, and I will be going.

I will be the Room Chair (Master of Ceremonies, of sorts) on Saturday morning, March 2nd, for the three presentations under the title "Explorations from the Reef's Edge to the Ocean Bottom". Not sure which room this will be in yet, but the speakers/topics I'll be introducing will be:

- Chip Cooper - Paradise Found, Papua New Guinea
- Ned Shenton - Deep Submersible Explorations
- Jack Chalk & George Buckley - The Philippe Cousteau Foundation "Sustainable Seas"

Chip is a regular visitor to Bonaire, incidentally, George moreso, and of course, everyone here probably knows Jack (who happens to be the manager at Habitat now).

So, a BTer dinner for Saturday evening, March 2nd, in the Japanese/Korean restaurant across the field from the Copley Fairmont is still on!

Jake

Planning is well underway for the 49th Boston Sea Rovers' Underwater Clinic 7-9 March 2003 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza and John Hancock Hall in Boston. The Workshop list is posted on the website http://www.searovers.org/.

Daytime speakers will be set in mid-January and the schedule posted then.

The special room rate at the Copley expires 7 February-- the website has the details.

Last year we had good fun at the BonaireTalk dinner on Saturday. Anyone on for this year???
